I knew Stephen Colbert for his voice work on Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law and before that The Ambiguously Gay Duo shorts on SNL (Along with Steve Carell)
Dave Chapelle for his roles in Robin Hood: Men in Tights and Half Baked.
Johnny Galecki for his role as Darlene's boyfriend on Roseanne and Rusty Griswold in Christmas Vacation.
Bob Odenkirk for his work on The Ben Stiller Show and Mr. Show: With Bob and David.

I saw Black Eyed Peas open up for Public Enemy years ago. It was before they added Fergie and turned awful.

Sacha Baron Cohen Saw him for years in time filler bits between programmes on the Paramount Channel. "Bruno" started there, bothering people at fashion shows. He was also in a random Madonna video before really doing anything in America. Stephen Colbert was on Strangers with Candy before getting his gig with the Daily Show... and well before his permanent gig as host of the Report And before Strangers with Candy, he and Steve Carrell were voicing the Ambiguously Gay Duo.

Sofia Vergara for me as well. She first caught my attention in the late 90's when she was mostly a model.
Also, Lauren Graham in Caroline In The City years before Gilmore Girls.

Aaron Ashmore of Jimmy Olson on Smallville fame is engaged to a good friend of mine.
I went out with Kathleen Robertson of 90210 fame a few times in 1995 after meeting her at a Chinese Food restaurant with mutual friends in our shared hometown of Hamilton Ontario.

Colbert also has a random appearance on the American version of Whose Line before he was even on the Daily Show, I think. For me, it's James McAvoy. I watched Shameless from series one, and so as McAvoy has got more successful it's felt like one of my friends succeeding because I followed his career from such an early stage.

Also, when everyone was raving about The 40 Year Old Virgin, I kept telling my friends that Seth Rogen would become a much bigger star, and no one agreed. I guessing you never seen Freak and Geeks then Also my aunt went to the same high school as Cory Taylor before he became famous in Slipknot and Stone Sour.

Michael Fassbender.
I became a huge fan of his after he starred as the villain Azazeal on Hex. I thought he was awesome. When I collected autographs, I wrote to him asking for his autograph and got a very nice long letter back thanking me for my support, saying how much it means to him to hear from fans and how much he enjoyed been in Hex as well as including a couple of autographed photos.
Now, he's one of the world's top actors.

I remember seeing Seth McFarlane's 'Larry & Steve' in 1998 or so on Cartoon Network, the more family friendly prototype of Family Guy.

I have in fact seen Freaks and Geeks, but his performance in that show didn't scream "potential star" in the way his 40 Year Old Virgin performance did. Really good show though, just not particularly because of Rogen.

I've seen loads at 11am at Festivals that then went on to make it big. Not sure my American brothers would know many, The Killers maybe

I gave Stephen Baldwin a blowjob in a back alley during the making of Bio-Dome. No, just kidding. I do remember being a fan of My Chemical Romance way back when before they blew up with "Helena." I had one friend who never gave a shit about the band suddenly getting into them after that, even after I had pushed MCR's first album on him. Speaking of which, I also remember seeing Fall Out Boy open for Blink-182 on a national tour when they were still on the upswing. I have seen that band a gazillion times.

I also knew Drake back when he Jimmy in Degrassi. I knew I forgot to mention someone. Whenever I see Drake these days, I cannot shake the Jimmy character.
