I just wish they'd try, at least. I'd take failure after effort than not even trying. You'd think Stephanie would like a strong women's division on her watch, wouldn't you? That would make people think that a woman could be more powerful than Steph. She does not want that.

As I understand it, Steph doesn't care all that much about having a good divas division.

I didn't say it got no reaction, just that it didn't get a GREAT reaction and that involved a strongly pushed, long term face champion in Kaitlyn and the mega pushed AJ Lee. If those two, in a relatively well booked and promoted feud could only get "decent" with that then I struggle to see hope for women's wrestling. You could take that NXT crowd who went mad for the NXT match and plant them into Shimmer, ROH, PWG, any indy. They are indy/hardcore fans. The same type make up about 10% of the RAW/SmackDown crowds, the ironic ones cheering Bo Dallas at the moment. The rest do not and will not ever care. It's a shame as we've seen what the women are capable of but quite frankly, the casual fans don't want women's stuff from what I see. I'd love to be proven wrong in the long term though. I don't think you're looking at this the right way. The NXT crowd isn't getting into it because they are "Indy" or whatever. They are getting into it because NXT has been giving them character, feuds, and matches to care about in the LONG TERM. They have been trained to care. The core WWE crowd has been trained to not care. For years. It's going to take more than one decent feud a year for the main roster division to build and sustain overness. You can't just try once, throw up your hands when the crowd isn't crazy nuts, and give up. But that's what the WWE does. They barely try, and when they do it never lasts.

It was a killer match, like most matches are on NXT, which IMO is WWE's strongest brand.

Just watched this match. Haven't seen WWE matches booked like this for a long time. A lot of modern booking (e.g. Cesaro vs Sheamus) doesn't appeal to me at all. Loved this match, though - that's what pro wrestling is meant to look like.
