DDP. However, what's the argument for Gangrel? Do people really think he should've been a main eventer? No kidding. He was a dude with a cool gimmick and entrance who was overshadowed by the two more talented members of his group and never did much without them. I couldn't name a single Gangrel match if you forced me.

Apparently we expect EVERYBDOY to have hall of fame careers. Most of the guys mentioned in the poll were great and some definitely could have been used better (not necessarily to WWE Title level), but at some point you have to realize that not everyone is going to be a main eventer.

I want to see a thread about "Biggest WWE Mistakes: Who was given too much opportunity"
Everybody likes to harp on about how the WWE Drops the Ball, but what about the other extreme? Like when the WWE tells us Alberto Del Rio is the greatest thing since sliced bread and about 7 people gave a shit.

Some of you guys need to chill with the "none of these guys were ever going to be main eventers/win the big one" smack. The topic is "Who deserved better?" not "Who deserved to headline Wrestlemania and win the WWE Title 16 times?" For example, I don't think for an instant that Gregory Helms deserved to be anywhere near the level of Cena, Orton, or Punk, but I do think he deserved to have a longer and more distinguished run in the company than he did.
That said, I think DDP takes the cake here. Others have already discussed the specifics, but this guy was a top dog in WCW and got treated like a joke in WWE. Much like WCW as a whole, frankly.

Has to be Hassan. He got his gimmick so over that they had to stop it ! If this was in the 80's he would be in main events with Hogan. Instead he got buried and neutered because the WWE didn't want the negative attention.
Basically he was penalized for being great at his job. If that isn't getting screwed over I don't know what is.

Not on the list but Booker T the way he got screwed over at Wrestlemania 19 was just horrible and disgusting, I know he was World Champion but that King Booker story was bull.

Diamond Dallas Page
Yeah, he wouldn't have been this long term main eventer, but hell he could have definitely been more than what they used him for.
I find it baffling that Stone Cold's hugging gimmick was a rib on DDP. I thought they were friends..

DDP seems unfair, given that his body was absolutely destroyed by the time he got to WWE and he's done alright for himself in the years since his retirement. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that he's set a huge example for retired professional wrestlers.
I voted Regal on this. He would have made a fantastic WWE champion, and then he got that second strike. Sure, he's joined the likes of Roddy Piper in terms of great superstars who never held the main championship, but he was really something special in the ring. Perhaps they should have pushed him to the main event sooner.

I have to question including Tito Santana and Mr. Perfect. I would also have included David Hart Smith as an option.

Stevie Richards had the size, the look, the charisma, and the talent, but I think he was just so good at being a goof, that he never got a serious look. While he did have injury issues, if they would have let him be a little more serious I think he could have been a legit main eventer.
Tajiri's size probably worked against him, but everything he did looked good and looked like it hurt like hell. I think he could have had a main event run if they would have just let him "buzzsaw" people every once in a while.

A few others;
Nelson Frazier should have been Nelson Frazier approaching the Attitude Era instead of f***in' Mabel or Viscera. He wasn't great, but I've always thought he had a good look and would be great as like a Biggie Smalls gimmick in 1997. Instead, WWF thought rap was still stuck in 1991.
Bam Bam Bigelow, yeah...he should have gotten a much bigger push.
I don't see Ravishing Rick Rude on here, but he was the entire package to me. One of the very few people I do feel that didn't need Heenan to get him over. I would have given him the title a few times.
Raven...again, if wrestling companies would pay attention to what was going on around them, they'd see what he was doing was pretty relevant at the time.
William Regal, had he been born 20 years sooner, would have been a World champion.
John Morrison, mic skills be damned...he was over and fun to watch. Not everyone needs to cut 20 minute promos, and hell if Jeff Hardy could get away with it, so could John, minus all the drug issues.
Paul London...could have absolutely been an upper midcarder.
Hassan...getting rid of him just makes me sad. EASILY the best gimmick since the Million Dollar Man. But let's make him a terrorist despite the fact that he's already over.
Elijah Burke...I came to enjoy his work when he went to ECW...sans that Punk match.
Shelton Benjamin...it was partly his fault, but once he started getting better, they dropped him. He should have been Swagger's first feud after Swagger won the WHC.

IDGAF, Kennedy was awesome. I have to agree, especially when you take into account how much they kept stripping away from him because he was getting too many cheers as a heel. At the end of the day, here was a guy who had a real passion for wrestling, could put on a good match, could talk really well, had a good look and build, and was loaded with charisma. The fact that WWE didn't take advantage of all of that still blows me away. Also, you could apply just about all of that to MVP as well.

I voted for Lance Storm, Raven, DDP, Saturn, Colt Cabana and Chris Hero. The others all pretty much had good runs IMO. I'm even kind of hesitant to pick Storm because he did have a few good title runs, just not many real, memorable moments. Raven and DDP should have fit right into the roster at the time and been treated as at least upper midcarders. Saturn was booked atrociously in WWE aside from really early in his run. I know he had drug problems and whatnot, but he should have never become a comedy character. Cabana and Hero never really got a fair shot at all, at least in terms of television time. I also voted "other" because I didn't see Kaval/Low Ki on the list. The guy was immensely talented, was getting over, and he won NXT. The winner of NXT was supposed to get a shot for the championship of their choosing. All Kaval got was an IC title match that he didn't win. If he wasn't going to win the match anyway, he should have challenged for the WWE title or the World title. It wouldn't even have had to be on PPV. Losing in a valiant effort to Sheamus or Cena or whoever on RAW would have done wonders for his career. I really don't care what his attitude backstage was like or any of that because he was that talented of a performer.
