Quietly?
If an on air breakup via steel chairs is quiet, What do you consider loud?

Supposedly (hearing this second hand) they did formally split on a post-show. Ambrose and Reigns decided to go their separate ways and deal with The Authority in the way they each feel is best for them. I wish we saw that. Damn.

I have this weird petty hate for Seth for being the cause of the Shield break up that I'd be so happy if he ever gets buried.

I do like how they look like they're saving the Ambrose v Reigns v Rollins triple threat match for a rainy day. If they keep them all booked good (the seemingly mythical balance between winning enough to look consistently strong, but losing enough to remain at a level of vulnerability that doesn't make every match/feud a foregone conclusion), it will be MONEY.

The Shield needed to end at some point. Where else could they go? Feud with the Wyatts? 3MB? Why did they need to end? I'll never understand this idea that since WWE only has so many teams, that the Shield will eventually run out of things to do. It's silly. It's not like the Shield should exist solely on the basis of 6 man tag matches. They didn't need to break up. Right there, you have 3 guys who stand for justice and what better thing than the Authority? They could easily be like the APA, kind of adjusting the odds any time someone is getting f***ed with by the Authority. But since this is WWE, we have to break them up abruptly, show no follow up, and once again come to the conclusion that Hunter wins again. Instead of Rollins turning, they could of booked it so differently: Acknowledge their dominance as a unit but highlight how they want to pursue different goals but remain as The Shield and ensure they have each others backs. It would not need to end the stable but simply give them individual focus for a few months and when the stable re-unites it feels fresh again.

Yeah, they clearly tooled with the mix of the track, beyond cutting the intro. To be honest, it worked and really felt like Roman's theme, regardless of how bad I want to resent him for pretty much absorbing all the Shieldness of the Shield. He probably needs it more than the others, though, because despite logic dictating that Rollins would be in the ladder match, all I care about is Ambrose/Rollins. They're both killing it with this feud! So, Reigns had Ambrose's Shield gear burned in a dumpster to absorb his Shield powers, explaining Dean's new attire? Ambrose: "Dammit, Reigns!!! I was still wearing those!!! Now all I have is a black tank top and jeans."

The Shield's fine. They don't need Rollins anyway.

We'll look back in time and say breaking up the SHIELD was one of the worst decisions in the post Attitude Era. The Shield needed to end at some point. Where else could they go? Feud with the Wyatts? 3MB? They should've just announced they've done all they could do as a Unit and just gone there separate ways. Reigns feud with HHH, Ambrose go after Orton, and Rollins with perhaps Del Rio or someone. Also, I think Reigns should get Steiner's TNA gimmick of thinking the Shield is still together and just talking about their return every week. Ambrose = 28 years old. Reigns = 29 years old. Rollins = 28 years old. They could have got years and years out of SHIELD. They didn't need to break them up entirely. Personally I would have always kept them together in one form or another. If required, each guy could eventually develop his own look and style and even do their own angles and storylines, but they would always be unofficial and unswerving allies who would always have each other's back in times of need. WWE decided to break up the hot act in order to prop up the stale Evolution faction. Totally crazy.

They just killed off one of the coolest and most marketable stables they have had in years, wayyyyyy too soon. Like said, they could have gotten years out of them. They were together a year and a half and all are young guys.
They could have stayed together and feuded with people separate. They all brought something different to the table. The Four Horseman often went off and did different fueds at the same time but always came together. Same with DX and many others. They were only babyface for about 6 months.

They only won because one of the members just decided he wanted to do something else. Nothing that H and company did. On top of that Shield won each match. I just think a Hart Foundation esqe split would have been the best way to go about it.

It got him over once again as the supergenius who can never truly be beaten.

How in the world is Reigns even remotely in the running for a big push and the possibility of being the next top guy? He was the worst of the group, in my view.

They've got the new themes for the former Shield members up on WWE's YouTube, and Roman's theme sounds like a bad low-fi remix of the old Shield theme.

WWE decided to break up the hot act in order to prop up the stale Evolution faction. Totally crazy. Basically! That's been my problem with this entire angle from jump. There was no real logical reason they needed to break up. They were fun, entertaining and had such amazing chemistry both in and out of the ring. The Shield had so much more mileage, like you said, even if they had separate interests and goals, they could have continued relying on each other when applicable. There are a lot of things I don't understand about WWE's booking decisions but this is one that truly, truly upsets me. What a *&$#ing waste.

Evolution are still there for all intents and purposes. Simply with Rollins replacing Drax No they're done, we're back to the Authority and Minions. We haven't heard that familiar Evolution theme since Payback, too. So I think they're gone for now.
