Overall I'm conflicted leaning on positive over the finale, but one thing really bothers. I know Osgood is just a pointless little comedy side character so what she says and does shouldn't be taken so seriously, but HOW THE HELL WOULD SHE KNOW WHO THE MASTER IS? Because she's a total fangirl who copies the Doctors' styles and has likely committed every file they have about him to memory, and considering how many of them will be about various incarnations of the Master, she put it together. The Doctor even admires her smarts and basically offers to make her the next companion.

Well, according to Doctor Who humans have goldfish memories when it comes to aliens so I assumed that went for UNIT as well.

Her father was in UNIT when they faced the Master. She knows enough about the history to dress as the Doctor. Just 7 years prior, the Master was Prime Minister. Why WOULDN'T she know?

Terrible episode, one of the better finales though (which says a lot about NuWho finales) but I still think Parting Of The Ways was the best finale as that one was actually good I agree. This episodes was overly sentimental mush saved only by Michelle Gomez and Peter Capaldi having great chemistry

Aw man, that was a really good finale. There were a few things that didn't make a lot of sense, a couple cheesy moments (not necessarily in a bad way though) and yeah, I totally buy that the Master is dead forever this time (although I'm rather sad it probably means the next version will be different; I really liked Missy and she really only got two episodes to shine), but it still was lots of fun and full of emotions and I'd rather have a rough but satisfying episode than a polished but overly safe one (as has been too often the case in New Who). In fact, I was very pleasantly surprised that for a Moffat story and especially a finale, it didn't feel like he was trying too hard to make it this big epic thing but just gave us a good story and told it well and as a result, it actually made it feel far bigger and more epic than anything he's done so far. He really showed instead of telling. I really, really hope they manage to keep the momentum for the next season. The whole time I was like "YES! More of that, please! This is what I want from Doctor Who!". Also, really doesn't pay to be the Black boyfriend of a White female companion in Doctor Who, does it?

I'm going to kill you in a minute. I'm not even kidding. You're going to be as dead as a fish on a slab any second now all floppy and making smells. But don't tell the boys! This our secret girl plan.

so a 3rd cyberman wasn't under missy's control as all it did was shout "oh god damn it, not again." and exploded where it was.

In the Doctor Who Extra, Moffat was talking about how the Ainley Master would die conclusively at the end of a story and turn up in the next one just saying "I escaped!", so I wouldn't put money on this being the end of Missy! And Mickey did pretty well for himself, I think. Got some extra time with a beloved family member in a parallel universe, then came home, got to be the hero, and married Martha Jones.

Yeah but he was also accused of kidnapping/killing Rose and was generally treated like shit by her. Come to think of it, it's pretty much as soon as he stopped being her boyfriend that things started looking up for him.

I'm sure plenty of people will disagree, but this was my least favorite series of the revival. If Capaldi wasn't so damn good at acting his ass off, I'd say it was Trial of Time Lord bad.

This our secret girl plan. My one complaint about that scene, the guys with guns were just so damn useless, they didn't even aim at Missy or attempt to after she's killed Osgood. I know generic bodyguards are meant to be useless in that situation, but that was too much.

Agreed I liked trial though, I'd go McCoy 1st series bad I loved Trial, I loved Paradise Towers, and I adore Dragonfire. The one thing I didn't like about Dragonfire (the infamous cliffhanger) was solved by Clara and the Great Intelligence. But then, I also thought this series was Moffat's strongest. If I had to point to worst seasons, I'd probably go with Series 6 for New Who, and maybe Season 15 for Classic Who. Underworld and The Sun Makers as a one-two knockout punch is hard to beat when it comes to forgettable Who.

I thought Sun Makers was good and underworld was dull but not abysmal like most of this season. Series 8 wasn't the worst of NuWho since Series 7 holds that honor but it was damn close (Capaldi and 4 OK episodes saved series 8)

Aww Peter Capaldi made a video for an autistic boy after he was struggling to deal with the death of his Grandmother.
Makes you wonder how the kid reacted to the last two episodes though (if he watched them).

Yeah, it's one of the things I was including among the "things that didn't make a whole lot of sense" in my post above. I was actually expecting them to turn out to be working for the Master until, you know, she zapped them out of existence.
