SHUTCHERMOUTH!
That was clearly the turning point in the Monday Night Wars!
As an aside, didn't they have Hunter flying a plane or some shit?

Are they seriously still trying to convince us that this was the incident that turned the tides and pushed Raw ahead of Nitro?

When I was a kid, I thought it was bad ass
after seeing replays of it the past 15 years or however long it's been...a little tired...

I thought it was largely foolish at the time and meant basically nothing. But on the other channel I got to see Bischoff challenging Vince to a fight, so it was par for the course. I sorta wish WCW had sent some vicious guys out there like the Steiners, Scott Norton, and Ernest Miller to beat the crap out of DX, haha. Let's just say I doubt DX would have invaded an ECW show if it had been in town that night.

You guys are totally off the mark. The true ending of the Monday Night Wars was when Tony Schiavone announced Mankind would win the world title. There is no way WCW could ever come back from losing that many viewers in spite of the fact that had happened week in and week out and that they would have seen the Fingerpoke of Doom if they stayed and probably would have been turned off from the product anyway because of it. I am surprised people thought it was shocking that WCW went out of business the next week.

I remember it all too well. Triple H & DX shook WCW to its core. Y'all remember the Nitro from that night? It was some of the most memorable television I've ever seen. Hogan was shivering in terror after he found out about the DX invasion. He was so terrified that he shit himself during a promo, literally, and had to excuse himself as Bischoff fumbled through the rest of it. Savage began writing what would become his Be A Man album that very second as he knew the end was near. Goldberg would face an endless gauntlet of competitors for two straight hours of the broadcast, tears were seen streaming from his eyes. He must've speared 70% of the WCW roster that night. The show's most lasting memory had to be the final streetfight between Ric Flair and Sting, which was cut short due to time. The last visual was Flair, in nothing but his underwear, flinging sliced ham from the craft services table at Sting... The musician. He happened to be in the area and walked right into the Flair/Sting streetfight. Needless to say, Nitro was canceled the next day.
That DX Invasion truly made the biggest difference in the Monday Night War.

It was the "Al Capone's vault" of pro wrestling. A moment built up so prominently, only for like literally nothing of any consequence to occur.
And they still pretend it was amazing and groundbreaking.
I often wonder if there are young fans, with zero frames of actual reference, who are actually brainwashed by this and now believe it.

I was a casual fan like ten years ago but I only really properly got into wrestling as a form of entertainment just over four years ago. I truly believed that that scene was more influential then it really was. Wasn't until I watched it, in full, for myself some years later I realised it was bullshit that it really made no sense.

Given the blatantly false revisionist history that people still believe about WCW, I'm pretty sure the brainwashing is alive and well.

In all seriousness, eventually it will be accepted as fact, because the WWE like all conquerors gets to rewrite history how they see fit.
