Sting's peak years were before the MNW. This is to me the ultimate irony of WWE presenting Sting the way they currently are. Crow Sting was a lousy character really, a deadbeat content with hanging around the rafters for a solid year while all of his friends got decimated by the NWO. Guys like Luger and DDP were far more heroic during the 1996-97 time period. Then once Sting finally got his chance at Hogan, he basically lost clean to the legdrop before the Bret restart fiasco.
Again, why do we want to relive that era of Sting instead of the surfer Sting that had classic feuds and matches with the Horsemen, Vader, Cactus, etc.? I know Sting isn't really capable of being that guy anymore, so it might be easier to be the mysterious Crow character, but that shtick was lame.

Also, getting back to the celebrity episode, i have to say i loved that ESPN commercial with the wrestlers (even if it broke kayfabe at the end by having bundy and taker together).
"Its those Greco-Roman wrestling guys, theyre wimps"

Just got done watching the celebrity/mainstream episode.
I hate the Arquette stuff. It was a fluke win on Thunder at a time that WCW needed to gain some interest. Look at the damn crowd, they popped for it!
How is it any different than Vince fluking a victory over Triple H? It's not like they tried to build Arquette as some kind of credible threat.
History is written by the winners, ladies and gentlemen. Sadly WWE has blown this one up and up and up and all the Piper's, Arn Anderson's etc of this world are more than happy to drone on and on about it until everyone believes it.

Well, to be fair, Vince DID give the title up immediately after he won it, to set up the six-pack challenge. What i dont get is, why put the title change on Thunder? True, it may have been an attempt to make that show seem more important, but it had already been established as WCW's B-show by that point, having it happen live on Nitro would have made more sense.

I laughed my ass off when the famous Russo picture slowly panned down. This gif is going to get some mileage out of me:

Felt that Sting and Taker deserved their own episodes rather than having to share one. Seemed to be more Sting than Taker - heck, they even left out four full years of Taker's career in the early-mid 90s.
Next week is "Building An Army", which looks like it's about how McMahon and Bischoff assembled their rosters.

To be fair there isn't much to really discuss with Taker from 1992-95, just a bunch of feuds with random big men. Some of them drew more money than others. With Sting there's a ton of stuff to discuss: His 1988 coming out party vs. Flair, his ascension to the main event in the early 90s, being put on the back burner once Hogan and Savage came in, veering into the dark Crow gimmick, etc.
A couple of points overall:
1) Sure, Undertaker was loyal but what choice did he have? Vince owned the rights to the gimmick and he'd be dead in the water the minute he showed up in WCW as Mean Mark Callous again, or as The Mortician.
2) Flair was right. Sting would have been a valuable 1994-96 contributor in the WWF. In fact he would have been the answer to Vince's problems, namely a charismatic babyface who could feud with the big hoss heels while also mixing it up with the serious wrestlers. Sting's mix of traditional babyface and superhero character was a combo that wasn't really common during that era.
3) Oh man did they ever gloss over Starrcade 97 here and the debacle that it was. The reason Sting joined the Wolfpac in mid 1998 was that he was totally out of steam as Crow Sting after the horrible way he had been booked from Starrcade onward.

Love how there was some revision on the Undertaker.
A. WWE claimed Undertaker had been there since Day 1 - Not true as maybe others might have mentioned, he was Mean Mark Callous in WCW before WWF
B. Undertaker had evolved himself into the Lord of Darkness - Except for the fact that as many would tell you, he f***ing hated that character, but despite hating it, he was a company man and was willing to do it if it was best for the company. You would think they would kind of mention the fact that he would do things he extremely hated to help WWE.

So is this basically prep for Taker vs. Sting at Mania? Or is it a decent show?

Voice over guy just said that Sting refused to turn heel so WCW turned to Hulk Hogan.
That goes against what I've read and heard in about 20 books and interviews.

This MNW show sucks, why do they never mention when Raw started or Nitro? Or about ratings??? That's what I wanna see. A nice shot of the ring, with Vince saying "WELCOME TO MONDAY NIGHT RAW!" a nice little graphic in the upper left that says "Manhattan Center January 1993"
I can't take it anymore.....

I feel like Sting and Undertaker should have gotten their own episodes. Frigging Jericho and Goldberg got solo episodes.
