Sort of obsessed with this thread now!!!
I think Eric Bischoff's "lets give away potential pay per-view main events away for free on TV" approach to booking was highly detrimental. Case in point on the Hogan debut Impact they gave away AJ vs Angle for free without notice, despite having hyped it as the big ppv main event. Then they still have it as the ppv main event later that month, not adding any new participants or stipulations.

Biggest mistakes. Bringing in people no one wants to pay to see!
They signed a former veteran Chris Melendez, and are spending a lot of time/money hyping him. Remind me again why I would pay to see him wrestle?
It's great he served overseas and stuff, but how the hell is he going to make you money?? ROH, and local indie companies out draw them when it comes to house shows, because they keep bringing in people no one wants to see!
-Rampage -King Mo -Reality star JWOW -Reality star "Mr Pec-tacular" -Reality star Jenna Morasca -Reality star Jonny Fairplay -Bodybuilder Rob Terry -Bodybuilder Phil Heath -Self created video game star Suicide/Manik -Willow (why would anyone prefer to see him of the Jeff Hardy character??) -Garret Bischoff -Reality star Brook Hogan
HOW WOULD ANY OF THOSE NAMES SELL PPV or HELP ATTENDANCE?? HOW?! All those names = millions of dollars in salary, and total investments.

To be fair about Rampage, he and Tito were Spike calls to promote their fight. So that's not on TNA, also Rampage is a big wrestling fan so at least he wanted to be there.

Probably didn't affect things one way or the other, but that segment with Bischoff miming playing a guitar, and then t would cut to hands actually playing it was weird.

How could I forget: They built Roode like a f***ing Boss, a top babyface after he wins the BFG series in 2011...only to lose in 3 minutes to Kurt Angle without any explanations at their biggest show of the year. I mean they were interviewing people that were entering the arena for this and most of them were saying the match they wanted to see was Angle vs Roode. And the majority of them wanted Roode to win. There was electricity in the air. I bet the whole thing destroyed a huge chunk of TNA's fanbase. But what I'm sure of it's that it probably killed their PPV market altogether. How can you trust these guys by spending money after that? Gotta add to this: allowing Hogan to outright sabotage one of the most anticipated title matches in company history, solely so that it didn't overshadow his stupid face turn.

I do not know if this is one of thier biggest mistakes but on the episode where they made such a big deal that wrestling matters they cut away from the main event to show Hogan and Bischoff talking backstage. They completely undermined thier new tag line on the show they introduced it. As though just saying wrestling matters was enough and they did not have to make any effort to have it actually matter.

The one that irks me the most is wasting Elijah Burke as a talent. Guy was getting over, had a great gimmick and buckets of charisma and they threw it all away by turning him Heel with several rather bad implications about it.

They were never gonna prosper with their strategy, they only looked for ratings to go up overnight...on an interview Dutch said that they were already screwed because their shows were taped, and the Nielsen ratings got revealed later, so they didn't knew if what they were doing worked or suck, most of the time it sucked.

They did that a couple of times and it was always terrible and made it seem like the match wasn't important.

1.Punishing Desmond Wolfe because the fans voted him number one contender. Health issues afterwards notwithstanding, this is a guy who had all the top wrestlers behind him as well as the fans, but because Hogan and Bischoff wanted the fans to vote for Abyss (I think) they not only make Wolfe look like a joke, but they have Flair bury him on the mic when forming Fourtune, and don't even put him in (instead going with Kaz who had no interaction with the group, and then Douglas Williams) The guy Hogan and EB wanted to win the vote was Hardy.

I'm not the biggest follower of TNA, I'll read the results/spoilers and such just to keep me updated but I do remember questioning myself of why I watched it when I saw that borefest of AJ Styles/Frank Trigg series that nobody paid to see.

Well they restarted the polls a few times and were frustrated and you had Dixie saying "they had been hacked". And it's only after the result ended up with Hardy on top that they accepted the result and gave him a big push, much greater than the "one title match on Impact" that Wolfe got.

HOW?! All those names = millions of dollars in salary, and total investments. Don't forget about Adam "Pac Man" Jones who was obligated to have any physical contact in a match, SO LET'S PUT HIM IN A MATCH WHERE CAN CAN'T DO ANYTHING! Anyway let me have a crack at this. 1. Vince Russo. I don't need to explain this. It's sad because hearing interviews from the guy, he doesn't seem to be that bad of a person but he can not book without someone watching over his shoulder and telling him no. I think this is why he was good in WWE and not anywhere else. Mcmahon was there telling him, "That idea is stupid, think of something else." 2. Trying to be WCW. A program like WCW would not work in today's day and age. If they focused on just being their own show and being the first TNA rather then the 2nd WCW, it would have made for a fresh and new alternative. 3. Getting rid of the 6 sided ring. This one the only thing that really made TNA stand out from anyone else. It was something new that wrestling fans had not seen and it was something fresh. Once they went to the classic 4-sided ring, they were just like everyone else. 4. Not putting home grown guys over. TNA had some amazing talent on their show like Samoa Joe, Austin Aries, Abyss, and Christopher Daniels. However it felt like the face of the company was someone who was huge in WCW, (Hogan, Scott Steiner), or someone that was a WWE reject. (Kurt Angle, Booker T, Bobby Lashly, Kevin Nash). This way it makes it look like TNA made their champion from the ground up and not relaying so much on WWE left overs. What's worse is things like Gut Check I thought was a really freaking good idea to bring new guys up due to TNA not really having an NXT like system. However it did not matter because they were not getting over as long as people like Hogan and company were around. 5. Moving to Monday Nights. This goes back to the trying to be like WCW argument. They had NO CHANCE to beat Vince and they should have just worried about being an alternative program and then the viewers would come. I liked the idea of IMPACT being on Thursdays and just being it's own show. 6. Stables taking up more then half of the show. AGAIN going back to being like WCW. Main Event Mafia, Fortune, Aces and Eights. TNA tried so freaking hard to make the 2nd NWO. When did they no have a major stable taking up most of the show, it was when they had their rise 2 years back where I at that time I said they were a better program then WWE. Then they screwed it all up with Aces and Eights. The major stable idea of booking I just think it's been done to death at this point. 7. TNA the name "Hey what wrestling program do you watch?" "I watch TNA" HOW DO YOU NOT GET LAUGHED AT!? I liked that they did end up changing the name to IMPACT Wrestling but by that time it was too late.

To me, one of their biggest mistakes was getting rid of Don't West in favor of Taz. TNA lost a lot of its original feel.

I'd like to think that even some of the scummiest indy d-bag promoters wouldn't have sent a "can't hardly walk cause I'm so wasted" Jeff Hardy out to the ring to wrestle Sting.
I know I'm wrong, but it's sad that a real company like TNA is on a same level as the bottom of the barrel wrestling scumbags.

The Jeff Hardy fiasco was indeed one of the many low points of TNA. We are talking top 5 low points here. It really exposed just how carny the group are / were (assuming they are dead). Stig walking off agreeing with the fans on the bull shit chant was quite something.
