I was really hoping Landycakes was gonna score tonight. For all the criticism heaped upon him over the years, the guy was a legend in American football. He'll be missed. That was a golazo and a half by Enner Valencia, though. Hammers look to have done a nice piece of business with him. Valencia has done well so far, his goal against Hull few weeks ago was an absolute piledriver and West Ham look a much better and more attractive team this year. Holland & Italy struggled to beat the football powerhouses of Kazakhstan & Azerbaijan last night. The big teams are going to think it will be so easy to qualify for the Euros now they will find it hard to get motivated.

Are the Premier League followers here mostly Brits or Americans/other foreigners? Was wondering what thoughts on both sides were about the overseas Premier League game idea that has come up yet again.
Personally, I think the new idea is still farcical (playing an existing game overseas instead of a 39th game). It spoils the competition by taking a home game away from half of the clubs, and probably will not be as profitable as the League thinks it will. The in-depth popularity of the Premier League is greatly overrated. How many are going to show up to a game like Hull vs Stoke (all due respect to both teams)?

The majority are from the UK and Ireland. There should be no games played anywhere than one of the home grounds of a Premier League team. The bigger teams do plenty of overseas games between seasons and even if they are friendlies, still attract good crowds. That's about as far as it should go. It's a English/Welsh league, the League games should be played there only.

I'm an American that really started following the PL closely when we got all the games on NBCSN. Selfishly I'd love to see Everton come to Chicago and play a league game. However, I can understand why native Brits wouldn't like it.

Would you still be willing to pay the same amount for a Premier League game in Chicago without Everton? Just curious on that. If which club is playing does affect the willingness to buy a ticket, that would reinforce my belief that the Premier League as a whole is just not that popular.

The suggestion of playing a league game abroad just demonstrates how greedy the Premier League are. They make billions of pounds every year already, piss off fans by allowing Sky to change fixture dates and times at short notice, and put barely any of their money back into grassroots football but nope, that's still not enough.
It will implode eventually, many fans already feel completely disassociated with the clubs they once loved.

Amazing end to the FA Women's Super League. Chelsea, Birmingham and Liverpool all could have won it.
Liverpool retain the title.

Yes! Yes! YES!
The Eleven finally won their first home game in NASL play, beating Minnesota United, 2-0!
I missed watching the match because I wasn't feeling good (& watching the newLEGACY Fibbage highlights... Channel 23 has crappy reception), but, dammit, watching the Brickyard Battalion storm the field was an awesome sight.

2 ways to look at PL in U.S
1) We get 2-3 NFL games over here, it's only fair that we give them a couple PL games
2) PL teams play way more games than NFL and they do a lot of pre season games abroad

I don't recall there being some huge campaign by fans to get NFL games here, it was simply a matter of money and greed. It's also not fair on the fans who pride themselves on going to every League game, home or away, who will then find themselves having to fork out for plane tickets. Then you have to look at Season tickets, even if there's only one game a season, that means one team will play one less game at home meaning fans missing out on a game they've already paid for (because you know damn well, the price won't be reduced slightly to consider that one match). TV contracts won't mean anything as due to time differences, the game could be on late at night. People like Sky would not stand for that. There's too many problems that arise from it and a lot of them are due to regular fans missing out.

There may be some people complaining that 24 teams is too much for the European Championship but it's making the qualifying very exciting it looks like the lower sides are stepping up and some established teams (Holland most of all but Spain & Germany have both lost in qualifying so far) are becoming complacent.
Northern Ireland, for example, currently 2 nil up in Greece. The home nations look desperate to qualify this time round.

Ireland snatch a draw in Germany with essentially the last kick of the game.

Crazy incident during Serbia vs Albania
Someone flew an RC Drone over the pitch carrying a flag showing Kosovo in the shape of an Albanian flag
Match had to be stopped when the players started fighting.

Good to see Lafferty doing well in these qualifiers. Really was looking handy at the start of the season for us, but his form took a gradual dip, so yay for 3 goals in 3.
