The list of people Reigns worked with in singles matches. Mark Henry Daniel Bryan Randy Orton Kane CM Punk RybAxel (I'll count this one because he was alone) Bray Wyatt Del Rio Rusev Batista That's a pretty deep list of guys he's worked with in the last year. We know what he can do its not like this hate just sprung out of no where. It's just now the criticism is kicking in because it's time to improve and prove us nay sayers wrong which he really hasn't yet. Take away all the pitchforks and all the biases, and Reigns vs. Orton was still the worst match last night that didn't involve Brie Bella. Reigns is supposed to be the future and is getting pushed like it, while people under him on the card outshine and out-pop him. He got some boos last night, that's a bad sign regardless of the reason why. I agree with both of these things. Reigns has worked matches with guys during the past year, I mean we see him and he's just not ready yet. I've tried my best to like Reigns, I really really have. I like his look, I like his outfit even, I like his style but I'm really thinking this isn't right because it is clear that he's green regardless of how they push him. Orton was really the guy who made that match last night, go rewatch it and it'll come to light. I saw it twice and the entire time I was thinking "man Orton doesn't get credit for anything he does, wow". What it boils down to is that Reigns isn't ready for the spotlight yet. Ambrose and Rollins have been consistently putting on better matches than he has and really given their all-around skill set, what they've done and how they are as characters, they deserve that spot. If Rollins went face with his arsenal? You better believe he'll be getting something greater, he's the real highlight reel here. Ambrose? We already know how he'll be. Reigns, mic skills have improved but he's not great on the mic yet and the same with ring skills. We cannot compare him to Cena who, when he debuted, was far better in all areas than Reigns is now after his time on the roster. Even Diesel was better than Reigns is now. I'm not trying to hate on Reigns but it is sad to see this when it should be given to others. We just can't push this under the rug and start liking him because they want us to, we just can't. The dislike didn't even start now, it started last year and most of us have been hoping he improves a great amount. I mean we were really hoping but nothing is working. I admit he is improving but not to the level he needs to be and really that can't happen in 8 months to be ready. Reigns did get booed last night, he's gotten booed before but my main issue is that it's apparently wrong to dislike Reigns. No it's not, it's wrong to push these issues we have aside simply because they're at least trying to push someone. I don't feel it.

There's no need to be combative. Not even really an insult, because that card was top-notch. Orton/Reigns was the only one that felt dull and dragged along, though it ended well. Not a bad match, but not quite good. But also keep in mind that they went on after the McMahon match, which was essentially the #2 match on the show. They were in what's usually the buffer spot, gave people a little bit to cool down, and still got the crowd into it at the end. Had they opened the show I think the whole match would have had a hot crowd I really don't think that was a big factor. Personally, I wasn't really burned out by Brie/Stephanie or anything, it was a ho-hum match with a hilarious Triple H bump and a not-so-shocking heel turn. It could be true for some people. One thing that was alarming was Reigns's BIG SPOTS getting sort of meh'd by the crowd. There was not much reaction for the Superman Punch, which is pretty much the coolest thing he does. I think he needs to develop more beyond the spots, and that putting him in a 20 minute singles match shone a light on that. It could've been on purpose by WWE to see where Reigns was at.

But the problem is that we could hear those few boos, because not many people were cheering either. There were some weird reactions in that match. It might've just been the type of crowd, but those crowds aren't so rare anymore.

Like I said in the other thread about this, I think Orton/Reigns was hampered by the fact that Orton decided to do three goddamn chinlock spots in a row. The match picked up and ended up being pretty decent in the end but MAN that early portion was a drag, and I blame Orton for that because as the veteran, he's the one who's supposed to lead the match.

I think people over think things at times. The 'resentment reaction' doesn't really work as I don't think the majority of the fan base think that way or care that deeply. I just think he's from another age. He's absurdly wooden on the stick and that's just a no-no for someone wanting to be a top babyface.

I've been one of the bigger advocates of Reigns here for the better part of a year. He's my favorite Shield guy (perhaps I'm envious of his Vidal Sassoon quality hair, since I sadly would look like Butters from South Park if I didn't shave my head.) I do think he has the tools to become great in time, and is hopefully working his way there.
That said, he has inarguable limitations right now. Pointing those out isn't altogether unfair. I will agree that it goes too far the other way, where people act as if he's Daniel Rodimer or someone similarly terrible; but you're gonna get extremes on either side of the opinion scale.
The fact is, he ain't there yet. He may not be ever. It's not out of bounds to talk about a dude's flaws.
As for last night's match? Eh. It was ok. Certainly it was objectively the weakest match on the card. I chalk some of my own lack of interest to the fact that I haven't been entertained by Randy Orton (even though he's very good in the ring) since his Legend Killer days. But it also clearly wasn't the greatest showcase for Reigns.
Right now, he's improving, but he's not there yet. That's not unfair; and I like the guy.
