Just wait until you see the horrific things the nWo does to The Giant, only for him to rejoin nWo Hollywood in 1998. Giant joining in 1996 made zero sense too. Just 3 weeks before he was fighting Hogan for the title. Actually it was funny because that night on commentary he tried SO hard to explain why, I'm guessing DiBiase invited him to his Florida house and Giant saw how big the house was and how many cars and motorcycles there were and he realized that the key to him having that for himself was joining the NWO. He's trying and failing to tell this story because Hogan kept interrupting and Hogan finally flips over the announce desk while Giant is mid-sentence so he never finished his story lol. That's correct. I believe his motivation for rejoining in 98, was to get revenge on Nash. Remember, Nash was the one who put him on the shelf after the power bomb fiasco. And since Nash was with the Wolfpac, a Giant joined up with the black and white, to better take him down.

From '96 to '98 you're in for a treat. Well, for the most part. Agreed about 1996-1997. 1998 though, has not held up for me. The nWo Hollywood/Wolfpack angle is ridiculously terrible, the Horsemen came back and proceeded to do nothing of value and then break up in a few months, and DDP was inserted into the Benoit/Raven rivalry and completely ruined it. The brightest spot of 1998 is Chris Jericho, who basically owns the entire year. I think the angle that had the nWo guys splitting where it created an internal war with Sting in the middle was great TV. It just that once the Wolfpac came to be, they did nothing with it. And they had Piper feud with Macho Man for no reasons and Bret Hart siding with Hogan. They should have gone full on Hollywood vs Wolfpac War but it never came to be.

My issue was always Sting and Luger. I didn't care that the Wolfpack were "faces", Sting and Luger should never have joined their ranks. Those guys were the heart of WCW's war against the nWo, and it really made them look like chumps to get buddy-buddy with Nash and wear the nWo logo. I also despised Hall siding with Hogan for nothing but shock value.

I still find it hilarious that Hogan asks Luger what he's doing in WCW and that he should go back to where he came from on the very first Nitro, considering most of WCW's hardcore fans felt the same way about Hogan and were probably far happier seeing Luger despite spending the last two years in the WWF than they ever were seeing Hogan. Hogan acting like he's more WCW than Luger and has the right to tell anyone they don't belong in the company is absolutely hilarious to me. I always wished Luger had said "get the Hell out of my company, Hogan!".

I also despised Hall siding with Hogan for nothing but shock value. Here's the thing, Luger and Sting joining was a stupid decision and yea Hall siding with Hulk was done for shock but at the time, I loved it, I was excited by these shocks. I gave Hall uber heat and the feud with Nash felt pretty emotional for Nash cause it's the ultimate betrayal. But in retrospect, Scott Hall with the Wolfpac instead of Sting/Luger would have been much better(esp. since Luger was not cool enough to be there). Another thing is that I always hated how the Wolfpac were not heels yet still called "nWo".

December 2, 1996 Nitro. I remember this as a kid, Benoit vs. Regal and the camera shot is so bizarre. Virtually the whole match is shot from the hard camera and it zooms out into the widest shot ever. As a kid I didn't get why it was shot like that at all. Now, I think I get it. Early in the match, Regal got busted open bad and I'm guessing that the Turner people in the truck were ordering a wide shot to keep it as hidden as they could.

Yeah what was with the no blood rule situation? Was that ever an official mandate from Turner? I remember watching Starrcade '95 the other night and Flair bladed pretty badly, dude was gushing blood but the moment the match was over, Jimmy Hart came in and put a towel over Flair's head. A towel isn't going to hide the fact that we saw him busted open for 5 minutes.

A few weeks later, Glacier busted open the nose of Buddy Lee Parker and they used the wide shot again. Wasn't as wide, but you still noticed.

I'm up to the episode where Savage regained the belt on Nitro and it still had Hogan's nameplate. That's beyond embarrassing, Hogan hadn't had the belt since October of '95 and they still haven't gotten around to changing the plate.

That's beyond embarrassing, Hogan hadn't had the belt since October of '95 and they still haven't gotten around to changing the plate. That continues the next year. This may have been intentional for the storyline, but when Flair was champion 'Randy Savage' remained on the title. They announcers explained that Flair kept it on there to rub it in Savage's face, but that may have been a kayfabe explanation to cover-up WCW's inability to keep those nameplates current.

Where the ass is Nitro 105? TNT aired other programming on March 4 and April 8 of 1996 and didn't move Nitro to a different time or different day, so there was just no show those two weeks. When WWE numbered the episodes, they not only started counting at 79 instead of 1 for some odd reason, but they also counted as if there were episodes on those two dates.

I worked it out for myself when I got up to that point but I appreciate you actually taking the time respond.

My wife and I finished the current run on Thursday - a year and a third of television in eighteen days. Neither of us realized how much we loved WCW until we started our marathon.

Am I the only one watching the Pillman stuff and thinking "this is boring."? You're not. I thought it was really lame. Felt like a guy trying to be edgy without being edgy. Like one of those attention seeking kids in school who practically jumped around screaming "Look at me!! look at me!!"

Having watched all the 93,94, and whats up for 95 Raws and now about halfway through Nitro I'm just amazed at how much better of a show Nitro is then Raw. WWF just feels bush league by comparison
