If you hate the guy that is fine. But if you don't think he was over and was missed, you are deluded

Keep in mind, pre-reign of terror Triple H was massively over and really was that damn good. People were legit upset when he injured his quad and it was announced he'd be gone a year. Combine that with a huge arena full of smarks and all the hype, the pop isn't surprising

Because despite what the IWC revisionist history says and still tries to say, HHH is one of the most over wrestlers of all time and he had been out a year with a terrible injury. Plus, he has awesome music and a cool entrance.

You know how sometimes you get real horny and you get really into this dirty, filthy porn and have the best five knuckle shuffle of your life? At the time that's the shit right there but ten seconds after the fun and games are over you hate yourself and wonder what you were thinking.
MSG had a massive group jerk off to amputee midget fisting porn that night, and they never felt right since.

It was a big pop but I don't think it's comparable to many other pops in WWE. I think this is one insanely over-hyped. No. Flat no.

I like to imagine Kurt Angle didn't even need creative to tell him he was going to be fed to Triple H that night.
Like how a dog soon learns to go and stand by the door if he sees you pick up his collar, Angle made his way to the gorilla position and waited patiently for the inevitable.

Perhaps the better question is why wouldn't he get a huge pop?

Perhaps the better question is why wouldn't he get a huge pop? He beats women up with chairs while they protect their boyfriends. That should have at least made a few people stop and think maybe he wasn't a good person. Not go "Well on one hand he put the Rock on the shelf and he brutalised a woman but on the other hand he hurt his knee so I think he's learned his lesson".

Austin and The Rock had beaten up women on tv prior and still got pops. Not to mention, that rightly or wrongly, this was the era where any heel who got over hugely was cheered eventually no matter how despicable their character was onscreen.

But I do believe I know why the crowd were so eager to forgive.
Those Creed video promos they aired forever in 2001. They appeared to be about the invasion and the superstars passion for the business but I think it was all a way of sneaking little Christian values and beliefs into our heads when we weren't paying attention. So there you are letting the soothing tones of Creed wash over you, never realising that you were having your brain baptised with all this turn the other cheek stuff they're into.
Those bastards, it worked. I bet if you play My Sacrifice backwards it just says "Paul is good".

He was a smark God at the time of his leave, and New York was the smark capital of the world at the time. That's a pretty big reason why.

He was in Metal Gear Solid 2? It had just come out at the time but I know for a fact that Triple H wasn't involved with it. It would have made no sense for him to return in a video game as opposed to returning to wrestling. This whole "the original Triple H quit to become a pixelated character and the Triple H since January 2002 is a different guy, which is why he looked bigger" is just one of those silly rumours that you sometimes hear marks talk about. I expected all of you to be much smarter than falling for a rumour as stupid and ridiculous as this one.
