He's not out of character here if you pay attention, at least not in my eyes. He's shown humor before. Didn't he previously steal the briefcase and pour soft drinks and popcorn and I forget what else in it to torment Rollins? How is this inconsistent with that? It's not the exact same thing (which would be bad writing) but it's not some 180-degree about-face of character. Was this after Seth tried to murder him? That cancels out all hijinks n the realm of realistic storytelling. Once someone tries to kill you, I imagine practical joking is not your top priority. Well if you want to get 'real,' the fact that he isn't dead or drooling in a hospital with severe brain damage makes the whole thing "unrealistic storytelling." But in storyline, didn't Ambrose brush that off as being "pretty cool"? He didn't come back as if he was intent on avenging his own murder. You're defining it the way you want to see it, not how it is presented. If the point is that you want his character to be portrayed differently, fair enough ... but if the point is that his MitB briefcase hijinx were some major betrayal of his character as presented previously -- then no, I have to disagree. Completely in character.

Was Bryan a "practical joker" during his run at the top this past year? I don't think so. He was too busy having the joke played on him with that damned Kane feud

Well apparently his character is both. You just don't like one thing he did. Apparently his character is both? Why, because they just pulled that out of their ass? And what I like is irrelevant. If there's any consolation, I at least thought Dean delivered his lines well. That said, a character should be consistent. Jake Roberts was always the way he was. He didn't suddenly start telling jokes. Same with other dark characters. People are making excuses for poor writing and consistency here. The enjoyment of it is subjective. I never said it sucked. But it IS inconsistent. And if WWE is just going to write "and now he's a prankster!" that's not an indictment on me, but them. It's not how stories are told. Exposition is needed to get you to a change. You can't just say "and now he's like this!" That's how a child writes. Yes. You're right. I agree with you complete. But WWE's writing is juvenile and childish. It's supposed to appeal to younger audience and is under the guise of a near 70-year old with a painfully simple low-brow sense of humor. Couple that with an overworked, overstressed Creative Team, and, welp...here we are.

People compare Ambrose to the Joker pretty often. The slime thing seemed like something the Joker would have done

In real life you don't play pranks for the sake of laughter on dudes who've tried to kill you. It's stupid. I would argue against that though. In real life you don't continue going to work, period, with dudes who've tried to kill you. Fair enough, though.

I still contend that Roman drugging the drinks wasn't a 'har har' practical joke for the lulz. It was just a way of incapacitating the Authority so that Vickie would be in charge and thus give him the match he wanted. I'll give you that the way it was presented was a bit juvenile (or at least the aftermath was with 'comedic' puking) The Dean briefcase thing was a bit on the comedic side, and that might seem a bit out of character, but Dean has shown the occasional humorous moment. So I feel like a bit of humor isn't completely foreign to him. Now I'll agree that maybe this wasn't the time, since Seth damn near killed him but I'm willing to give it a pass. I think Dean will be okay.
