Yeah exactly. He sounds so fake all the time he hardly ever makes anything sound legit. Matt Striker would of done a better job. That's my biggest issue with Cole as well. He sounds so forced and phony. I know the show is scripted/pre-determined, but his job is to make you believe it's really happening. He fails miserably.

My only gripe is Cole not calling the Scorpion Death Drop, but complaining about Cole not calling moves is beating a dead horse. Ya see, I get he doesnt call moves ever, but the way he called that particular moment "Stinger.............................STRIKES!" was so stupid. It'd have been nice if Lawler or JBL had piped in and said "HHH was just leveled by the Scorpion Death Drop!" or something to that effect. For me the fact he didn't call THAT move, but still will call others' moves (I mean hell, he calls Nikki Bella's ffs) really annoyed me and showed a lack of preparation/knowledge on Cole's part. It was a brief moment but was enough to take me out of it for just a brief second. I thought he sold the debut fairly well enough, but that omission really stuck with me. Also the fact that forever Sting's WWE debut will have Cole's commentary instead of a perfectly capable JR, really stinks but thats another topic and a whole other ball of wax.

JR when X-Pac returned from WCW "Well look who's back". He didn't always sell returns like it was the next coming (Don't get me wrong, I would have loved to hear JR react to Sting. Would have been fantastic). That said, I think the trio did a great job of conveying excitement. Yeah JBL had his heel line but it was after talking about the Icon, the Franchise, the multi time world champion. Personally I felt for the most part they were on with their reaction to Sting. Maybe they could have been a bit more quiet but I suspect that was Vince in the back wanting to make damn sure younger fans knew this was a huge deal. Cole's failure to call the move by name was unfortunate though. However, to be honest, I didn't even notice it the first time I watched the match.

Cole sounds like he's simply following the script in a precise sequential order. There's no natural flow to anything. He may as well say "ladies and gentlemen that was segment 11/A, now coming up, don't miss segment 11/B where match 3 will take place over 3.43 minutes". He doesn't even attempt to make it sound like he's calling something that he hasn't rehearsed in detail and gone over step by step with a fine tooth comb.

Cole, Lawler and JBL actually do a half decent call for once in their goddamned careers, not just Sting's debut but the match as a whole, and people still aren't happy.
I thought they were great. Sold it well. And laid the f*** out to let the pop breathe. And didn't spoil it even though the screens showed who was coming.

honestly...my jaw was too busy on the floor to even hear the announcers. hadn't been on here in awhile, didn't see it coming. hoped when Vince intimated at something big in the beginning, but figured it was just Orton. i had to watch it over again to even take it all in.
one of those wrestling moments if you watch alone like me you wish you had someone to geek out to.
but yeah JR would have made it a million times more epic.

It would have been better with no commentary. Just the music, the image, HHH's reaction and the crowd telling the story. Sometimes silence screams.

I thought Cole's commentary for the debut was great I've just had my most-liked post here...praising Michael Cole. What does that say about all of you?

No disrespect to X-Pac, but he isn't exactly a household name lol.

Whether or not someone clued him in, or he just decided to go with the alliteration bit at first, who knows?

Cole has never really grown on me. Hearing him call a big debut/return on PPV isn't anything special. Sting might as well of debuted on a episode of Smackdown. He's always just been the voice of Smackdown to me.

I didn't like how JBL rattled off stats about Sting's world championships... it's almost like he was expecting Sting to show up tonight.
