I wish someone could define for me what this gimmick is. As far as I can tell, the gimmick is: - They're black - They wear blue The vignettes made it seem like they'd be like disingenuous gospel preachers which would be a f***ing awesome gimmick. They could start baptising other wrestlers and shit. It'd be over the top and cartoonish but also brilliant. Rufus from Black Ceasar, times three! "Do you believe my hands can heal?" (Chokeslam)

I hate how the only ideas for a group of black guys anyone ever has is to make them violent militants.

That match was shit last night. Good Lord...that was one of the most boring matches of the year. The gimmick is lame as hell as WWE gave us no reason to care about any of them.

I hate how the only ideas for a group of black guys anyone ever has is to make them violent militants. Wrestling by nature is violent. And who said about making them militant? Just turn the guys heel. Kofi and Xavier need it badly and Big E can always turn face again down the road.

These guys should be cashing in on the ferguson/ protest crap going on. Come out with there hands up and talk about being held down and never getting a shot.
May not work but would be better than this silly shit "do it for the day" "I ain't gonna do it man" "DO IT FOR THE DAY"

JBL keeps talking about how they must have something to hide. I hope they go really dark with this, like Big E has a dozen choirboys buried under his porch and that's why he's sweating so much

For those who think current events mean that a New Nation angle is unlikely, I must mention that this year (2014!) Lana cut a heel, pro Putin promo DAYS after an airplane was shot down by pro Russian militants killing hundreds.
Added to the Del Rio debacle, Bumblebee comments and a legacy of stereotypical gimmicks/storylines I just don't think the WWE top brass has the same degree of sensitivity that members of this board and most members of society have.

To be fair, anyone in Detroit having a positive outlook on life seems improbable these days......so of course they hate New Day.

It's all a big misunderstanding.
The crowd thought they were going to get Green Day.

I'm gonna err on the side of Detroit rejecting a meandering boring Raw match, vs Detroit rejecting New Day. It's not like they could hear Kofi playing the gimmick on commentary, which was really the only entertaining thing in the match part.

I'm still awaiting the comedy moment where Santino shows up naked and says "I thoughtchu say it was a Nude Day?!"

This is literally the worst possible thing they could do. It's such a stupid idea, that it could literally lead to the deathknell of the company had they gone with that angle. (I know, overdramatic, yes, but...)

Violent Militants > Slam Poets I'd much rather hang out in a room full of violent militants than in a room full of slam poets. Quote me on that. I'm actually surprised to hear that you don't care for slam poetry. I like poetry. I like spoken word poetry. I like the idea of performance based poetry. What's compelling to me about that concept is that taking the diligent meticulous approach to the form and structure of poetry and applying that to captivating a crowd in a live setting. While there had been glimpses of that in the early days-gone-by of the slam poetry movement, through cats like Taylor Mali and George McKibbens, a post-"Def Poetry Jam" world has seen the slam poetry scene just cannibalize any merit the medium could possibly have in favor of attention whore political woe-is-me grandstanding for people without the rhythm or timing abilities for neither rap nor poetry, but with an anti-intellectual hubris that just irritates me. I go into more detail here: (language warning)

Even TNA isn't stupid enough to think a New Nation is a good idea right now. You, uh, watch the news, don'tcha? *EDIT; I'd like to clarify, I am not calling you yourself stupid. I am just saying a racial angle could not come at a worse time, and even at the best of times, is a little too big for wrestling to tackle in a way that isn't infuriating. It's much more insulting and stupid that they're doing a 'happy go lucky black church' gimmick. What's funny to me is that people want to complain about the "black church" gimmick being offensively stereotypical, but if Johnny Curtis, Zack Ryder and Ryback did the exact same gimmick, everyone would cry "culture jacking".
