So, this is a perfect South Park episode right?

I don't like these terrorists. They did nothing to stop Sex Tape. Well I mean, you forced yourself to see Sex Tape. I think that's a dangerous act in itself. Also, just put the goddamn movie online if you're going to do this...you'll generate a shitload of interest here. I assume it's incredibly meh and probably about the same quality as Green Lantern, but still.

I wouldn't risk retribution from North Korea either seeing as how any terrorist attack would have a 100% fatality rate with the terrorist murdering everyone with their bare hands (Source: North Korean media). It looks as if Sony has to hope for a Annie Christmas miracle now. Until some white supremacist group tries to pull the same shit because they're pissed about Annie being black.

I hate to side with Seth Rogan of all people, but *sigh*...how far are we going to take censoring artistic freedom? This movie is clearly a satirical parody, which will likely fall under the same vein as Team America, but without the balls to outright make the central villain a true villain. They'll likely take the Bush approach in Harold and Kumar 2 and just become his buddy and the end of the movie has the U.S. and N. Korea being buddies.

Yep it was over featuring Mohammad as a character. editFor the record too, I'm not advocating censorship simply calling a spade a spade when saying I can't fault the theaters for not wanting to risk anything happening at their locations.

And the interesting thing is, South Park had already shown an animated Muhammad character years before without any controversy or incident.

The Alamo Draft House cinema will play Team America for free on December 27th at 7:00 pm in place of The Interview at their Dallas/Fort Worth location. www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/texas-theater-show-team-america-759037Variety says they're not releasing the movie at all. So I wonder if there's anything in Sony's contracts with Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg (Seth's co-writer on the film) and James Franco (along with other major cast members) that would make them have to pay out a big financial penalty for shelving the film. There's potential millions those guys could lose out on in potential royalties.

Which is why I think they'll probably redo the film and change the leader they have to kill into some fictional character, which according to things I heard was the original plan before the North Korea BS was added

If Sony put it straight to DVD just because they didn't think it would be financially viable or it didn't fit their current wheelhouse of cinema they're putting out, that makes sense to me, but this - oof! This is just all kinds of strange and confusing. I mean, its just a movie, at the end of the day and it will get out there so it not being released in theaters isn't that big of a deal. But it is kind of a scary thought if this were to be used for more pressing matters that affected people's lives. Like forcing embargoes or something like that. Ugh. I can't even get my head around the implications of it all, but its definitely strange. There are already voices out there calling for us to go to war with North Korea over this. TO WAR. People threatened to blow us up. I agree that the War of Franco's Flick would be the dumbest named war since the War of Jenkin's Ear, but to do nothing sets a precedent that will not go well for the US. At the very least, the US should negotiate with China to do something non violent.

I'm not saying the two situations are exactly alike but that the previous event not being a distant enough memory just to up and ignore the threats. And frankly, no theater in their right mind should put people at risk just so they won't "Let the terrorists win." C'mon though. We're talking about North Korea. If any one of their citizens comes into this country they're immediately flagged. How is this any different from 4Chan or another online community making threats or hacking? There's nothing tangible behind it. So we should immediately bow down to their demands just b/c they make some threats? It should never work like that. Again, this sets a dangerous precedent. Threats from across an ocean should not have this affect on us ever. Even the FBI said tonight there was nothing tangible about the threats of violence. It was smoke being blown up our ass by a country that is run by a cult of personality. We're more at risk from our own citizens than any foreign invader. So if ISIS (or whomever) make these same sort of threats against the new Star Wars film next year just because, that should be cancelled as well?

I have no issue with doing something diplomatically to send a message that we won't tolerate alleged agents of a foreign government threatening American lives. But, I've already seen big named pundits talking about an "Act of war" and how it's time to retaliate militarily. I will NEVER go along with that as a response in this situation.

I mean I know it looks like the worst movie of all time, but let's not over react here. Hey. Come on. Lizzy Caplan's presence in the film alone makes it worth pausing for a few minutes on Netflix. Fixed On top of it all, it just didn't look funny. It looked like Seth Rogen and James Franco came up with a taboo idea, giggled about it, then were astonished when someone said, "OK, here's X-million dollars to make it happen." You just described EVERY Rogan/Franco picture.
I was never going to see this and have no problem not releasing it in theatres, but a total shelving is garbage. Put it on Blu-ray and Demand. LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE!!!

Team America sucked the first time enough as it is, why were Franco and Rogen trying to essentially rehash it?
