I would say I don't get as excited as I used to for games but I still think it's worth owning a console. I'm 31 soon and was wondering is there a time when one should stop playing? are games really for all ages?

Games can be for all ages. You just have to find the ones you enjoy. Whether that be older games, indie games, or whatever. I'm 34 and I still enjoy gaming. It all depends on you.

I like the darker type games. Games darker in story and appearance. Brightly coloured games don't appeal to me as much.

isn't that kind of like asking if there's a cutoff date for when you can't read books or watch TV?

If you don't want to play games anymore you don't. I haven't bought a new game since GTA V because nothing really interests me anymore. I been on hiatuses before. It happens

I'm 38 and I still play video games. I know people in their mid-40's who still play them. It all boils down to whether you still enjoy it or not. Like others said, if you're not enjoying them anymore, then quit. I don't think age should play a factor though.

The average age of a game is 40 and it goes up every year. However you want to unwind or be entertained that doesn't harm other people, animals or such, go for it.

I've been slowly losing interest in gaming since I was 20. Its starting to grow back a little but its hard to find time.

I can't even remember the last AAA game I bought, my interest has gone that low. Hotline Miami 2 will re-kindle that fire, though.

I will admit that I've been "bored" with video games for the last year or so but I haven't played anything new that's rocked my socks since Mass Effect 3 and that's almost three years ago. I still have all my older games but I can only play them so many times.
But to answer your question: no. Unless you want to. If you feel you should because of your age or because society may look at you in a certain light: f*** them. Do what you want. I'm thirty-four now and I'm no crazy "gaming all day" gamer. But a few hours a week, who gives a f***? I still enjoy it most of the time (although Dragon Age: Inquisition is making me question that). And, now that my kids are getting into video game age I can play with them which adds a whole other element with gaming fun. There's nothing like playing one of those stupid LEGO games with a four year old who's going ballistic for it. And I want to try keep up with it so I'm not lost with them like my parents are.
So again to answer question: only if you want to.

Games, as modern entertainment, are still really, really new. My dads generation (roughly 50) was the first that got into home consoles, so there's no set precedent for being 'to old' for the medium. My parents have a 360 and like 7 kinect games, so I don't know when anyone could say you're gonna outgrow them. I'm actually stoked to have my dad over one day and show him Forza Horizon 2 because I know he'll get a kick out of it.

I just noticed I play them A LOT less than I used to. I could get a game as a gift and not play it for 6 months even if I have 2 or 3 days off a week. To me sometimes my mind just isn't ready and I've slowly noticed I'm not as sharp as I used to be with them and end up looking for a walkthrough 10 minutes into the game.

I have relatives still playing into their mid-50's, so nope. Do what you want, what you want with your body.
