I'm shaking my head at people whining about this fight. I guess I'm in the minority, but Mayweather's ability to not get punched fascinates me. He's such a good defensive fighter, and it's a marvel to watch. Great heel. I loved it when he just shook off the shots by Manny and went nope, nope few times. He was balled up letting Manny punch himself out on his arms. Clearly it worked, because Pac had 3 of those flurries in rounds 2-5, with Mayweather reacting the same way each time. Then he had nothing the rest of the fight with Mayweather letting Manny track him to a corner before rolling left/right to escape, rinse and repeat.

A lot of boxing people who argue about it being a science and what not, watching Mayweather makes me agree with that.
I'm a casual boxing fan and I love Mayweather's style. It's not exciting, but I think it's really cool and interesting to watch in the same way that the Spurs are beautiful to watch play basketball even though they don't have the big highlight plays that other teams have. Or maybe how I appreciate a football team that runs the ball a ton and plays great defense just as much as I appreciate teams who throw it 50 times and put up crazy points.
I'm a novice at best when it comes to boxing, but just from watching a few Mayweather fights he seems so far ahead of the field that he's able to just pick everyone apart without any difficulty. Too good to ever be in a situation that results in a crazy brawl of a fight. Is that a stupid thing to say?

I actually though Stephen A was the actual rational out the two. Rob came off as a typical fan who wanted more but this is your job you should know how Floyd operates by now. Yeah I actually agree, I've just never been able to stand Stephen A. Stephen A has his good and bad days. I can stomach him for the most part. Why is nobody giving grief to pacman about this fight though that's kind of funny.

Thing is Mayweather fights a lot like Ali, quick defense, accurate punching, but a lot more hatred. What Mayweahter has done is unparalleled. Yeah he doesn't go after guys, but he is effective, smart and quick. Much like Ali in his later years, just not as likable. The thing is you don't have a bias and are just seeing a great boxer. In his last few fights he has used rope a dope. Cover the face, take no real damage, but let them wear themselves out trying to knock you out in the first few rounds. But Mayweather will take a nice opening to put a punch in.

In the later rounds he did what he needed to do( take the jab, but put combos in) but waited well to long for it.

I mean, if you were looking for some wild ass brawl, then you've NEVER watched a Floyd fight before. Dude is a defensive mastermind & that's how he's always fought. He wasn't gonna change his style & put himself at risk of getting KO'd. His style has worked for almost 20 years? Why switch up for some Johnny come latelys?
As for the entertainment aspect, I watched it with some friends & we had a great time. Boxing is the best example of needing to watch with others to get the best viewing experience.
I'm seeing it a bunch on Twitter as it relates to Beadle, her Floyd criticism, & her Steve Austin fandom, but the "what about ___ & their domestic violence history!!11!!!!" is wack as hell to me. When I see people do that to defend Floyd & ignore DV in general otherwise, it strikes me as disingenuous. It feels as if they're trying to score points instead of engaging with the issue, its long lasting effects & how one does (or doesn't) work to repair their relationships, image, etc after a DV incident.
Also, lol Sheamus. Just lol

I love how butthurt people are about this. "MANNY IS THE PEOPLE'S CHAMP! WE LOVE HIM! WE BOO YOU! NOBODY LIKES YOU!" as if Floyd gives a damn. And the moaning about how he just ducked punches and it's not a "real" victory. Hit and don't get hit seems like a basic boxing tactic to me.

They might as well rename the sport "Dodgefist"...
But I think Floyd makes a good face for the sport as it would be highly unlikely that he would suffer from sport-related head injuries in the future...

Wasn't the greatest spectacle really. Reminded me of Arsenal v Chelsea last week, Floyd did what he had to do to win even though it wasn't pretty. Winners do that I'm afraid.

Mayweather is a defence specialist.
And it works, so I have no problem with it.
If you ever watch a boxing match and it's a mutual bloodbath, that's not good boxing.

Boxing f***ing sucks.
I'm sorry, I don't mean to sound hateful about it but really, it's boring as hell. I can't believe there's still that much money involved in boxing. Mayweather made 100 million last night. That's nuts. I hope you guys feel good about spending that much on a boring fight.

It was alright. Not worth staying up until 6 in the morning for though!
Honestly, as much as I wanted Pacquiao to win, I knew Mayweather was the more likely candidate to do so. Love him or hate him, and I'm pretty close to hating him, dude's a f***ing great counter puncher. Fact of the matter was, Pacquiao didn't push him hard enough, even when he had a few opportunities to really go to work (The straight left that sent Mayweather reeling into the ropes for example), he didn't go for the kill.
And I realise that's because he obviously has to be careful against Mayweather, being a counter puncher and that being how he lost against Marqueuz, but he needed to take more risks IMO.
So yeah. Not the slug fest I and I'm sure many other were hoping for, but Mayweather definitely won it, in a boring but practical way. I will say though, there was too much clinching for my liking.
