Boxing f***ing sucks. I'm sorry, I don't mean to sound hateful about it but really, it's boring as hell. I can't believe there's still that much money involved in boxing. Mayweather made 100 million last night. That's nuts. I hope you guys feel good about spending that much on a boring fight. There isn't that much money in boxing, there's just that much money in Floyd Mayweather.

I caught some of the ESPN post-fight roundtable. When all of the panelists were openly calling Mayweather (the biggest draw in the sport) and Klitschko (the heavyweight champ) boring to watch, it's no wonder it's a dead sport.

I really enjoyed the fight even if it played out exactly how I thought it would. I don't know what the people who are complaining were expecting. It wasn't gonna be the main event of Rocky II. All of Meyweathers fights are like this. He's one of the hardest guys in history to punch. I wish Pacquiao would tried to take it to him more, but Floyd's reach advantage and slippery defense almost made that impossible and I don't expect a boxer to just stick his chin out, swing like a wild man, and get knocked out. It's boxing, not brawling.

Yeah if you can win a match but just avoiding a guy the whole time I'm glad I've never bothered watching boxing.
The announcers were so biased. Ugh. No thanks boxing.

HHH tweets Floyd support, Beadle says she gives up on WWE, lol. Beadle is becoming really obnoxious. I don't know when she started getting on this high horse and I understand why she doesn't like Mayweather but the man and the boxer can be separated. I can give praise to his boxing genius but as far as him as a man what he did was wrong. As someone mentioned Stone Cold has been accused of the same thing but it's easier to paint the bad guy when he plays a bad guy role.

So yeah. Not the slug fest I and I'm sure many other were hoping for, but Mayweather definitely won it, in a boring but practical way. I will say though, there was too much clinching for my liking. There's always too much clinching. I'm not sure if Mayweather is a boxer or a necromancer. The unholy powers of the clinch are sustaining his career and allowing it to survive past the point where it should have died. He has meager punching power, a soft chin, and even his speed is starting to go. In his prime, his technique and footwork made him formidable, but when he has to abuse the clinch on a has-been like Pacquiao, the writing is on the wall.

Klitschko is a curious case to me just because he knocks people out but it's slow and plodding. In saying that tho it's neither one of these guys issue to save boxing. People want to see Mayweather get a lost and you have announcers openly rooting against him because the man is calculated boxer in and out the ring. Mayweather isn't the TBE but he is in his generation maybe when he retires people will appreciate how much of a great boxer he truly is.

My favorite moment from the fight You should spoiler tag that, people might get offended by the blood and sheer brutality.

Not a fan of her at all. Her appeal is that she's quirky and have enough personality to appeal to the younger audience. When she tries to go serious is when she gets away from her path. Her NBC run was a failure and ESPN took her right back with open arms because of the audience she brings.

We paid attention to everything from the punches to Jimmy Kimmel and the Burger King. There was good conversation, good drinking and good pizza. Sure, the finish was anticlimactic, but a fun evening was had by all. So yes, I feel good about spending money on a "boring" fight.

I'd not go so far as to say it f***ing sucks, but it is an indication of why I prefer wrestling to any 'real' sport - wrestling is designed to entertain you in one way or another, even if can fail to do so. Real sport, though, you have guys who want to win, and don't care if they'll be entertaining. Mayweather went into that wanting to win. And he did. With some ease, I'd say, too. And I can't blame him in the least, and I can understand how a boxing purist might find it fascinating, but it's an indication why boxing isn't for me, I guess, because this is the only time I've ever been invested enough in a fight to watch it and it was decidedly anticlimactic.

Time to retire Floyd. There is nothing left for you to prove.

Honestly, I enjoyed last night's card top-to-bottom more than I've enjoyed most recent UFC cards. There's such a spectacle to boxing. The main event went pretty much how I thought it would. I would have liked to see Mayweather clinch less but it is what it is. Pacquiao just didn't have a way to cut off Floyd's escape route and those little jabs Mayweather threw were enough to earn him the win.
If Mayweather was telling the truth and his fight in September really will be his last, then boxing is going to have to scramble to find someone that can elicit the kind of reaction he gets.

What came were two technical fighters trying pick and choose spots, with the winner being the predictable choice due to a 5 inch reach advantage and an ability to capitalize on mistakes. Technical boxing isn't exciting, it's a chess match. If you don't really appreciate that side of it, it won't be a sport that you enjoy when you get matchups like that.
That said, had they actually fought when both were younger and more in their prime, it might have lived up to it's big money moniker. Instead we got a matchup between two big names at the end of their careers. Mayweather probably would have still won 5 years ago, his style and reach are just better suited for the fight, but I think Pacquiao would have been more aggressive had he not had his recent losses.

Exactly it boggles my mind that people actually expected this to be some big brawl or something.

We've all been raised on Rocky movies. Boxing ain't nothing like that or guys would be brain dead after like three fights. That's why if you're not a boxing regular it seems 'boring'.

I'm not a huge boxing fan, but have been wanting to see this for years just because it was pretty much the last big fight. Now I feel like I never need to care or pay attention to boxing ever again, not that anyone was forcing me to.
That being said, I thought it was pretty boring.
