Also, what trailers did you get? I got the newest Kingsman movie, Jumanji, Geoforce (is this supposed to be a sequel to something? Sure seemed like it), Pitch Perfect 3, and Daddy's Home 2 (actually looked pretty funny). Got Valerian, Jumanji, Geoforce and Pitch Perfect 3.

I saw it and I really enjoyed it. While not a perfect movie, it paced very well and Tom Holland was a great Peter. Not a shock, but Keaton was great as a villain and I'd honestly say he's one of the better villains of the MCU films, really their weakest point. But he was a fully realized character who wasn't just a walking evil cliche. Actually, I think that is the movie's greatest strength. Its scope is so much more paired down. It's much like the first Iron Man. It's about a person figuring out the kind of hero they are supposed to be. Iron Man was grander is scope, but it was still a very personal story. In this, it's not the world on the line, not even mass killings on the line. It's a boy trying to be the best hero he can be and a villain who is desperate and doing desperate things. The MCU films have become so massive in that regard, that it's very refreshing to see such a more "small" film. My only gripe, though it's a big one, is Zendaya as Michelle. I just hated this character. I don't generally mind sardonic and sarcastic characters, but every word out of this girl's mouth was so phony and annoying that I was just happy when she wasn't in the screen. I know I'm alone though because my audience was cracking up at anything she said. Strictly talking about the character. Her skin color means nothing to me. I'd still hate her if she was as white as whole milk too. {Spoiler}{Spoiler} My favorite bit though may have been the ending when May finally finds out Peter is Spider-Man. It's going to be refreshing to finally have an Aunt May who isn't clueless.

Just got done seeing it. I liked it a lot. At first him being so connected to Stark and the Avengers kinda bothered me but within the context of the MCU it makes sense that a 15 year old kid would be so impacted by stuff going on and idolize Stark like that. {Spoiler}I LOVE when the movies and shows show how the actions of The Avengers affect regular people and how it changed Vulture's life in particular was fascinating. None of the changes to characters bothered me either. That's how I'd expect a magnet school in Queens to look haha

I liked it a lot. It did seem somewhat more aimed at teenagers, but Marvel is known for playing with genres in the MCU (Cap 2 and 3 had elements of political thrillers, Guardians was a space opera, Doctor Strange was more of a fantasy film, etc), so having that genre didnt bother me too much. One question though, after the opening, we see a "8 years later" card. Assuming that the opening took place in 2012, does that mean this film actually takes place in 2019-2020? Reading up on the timeline thing, it seems like the "8 years later" thing was a big error that's kinda messed up the MCU timeline.

To be fair, very few of the Marvel films have any indications that they take place in any specific year, aside from Captain America 1, the opening of GOTG and the flashbacks in GOTG 2. There's not really any references to current events or anything.

Saw it last night and absolutely loved it. Overall, I'd put it *right* behind Spider Man 2 (Maguire version) as my favorite Spider Man film.
I do think that this one is the first one who really "got" Spider Man and who he really is.

Haven't seen it yet. But someone who has gave me a few hints of what's to come...seems like there are a few indirect nods to Firestorm... {Spoiler} Peter eventually downloads an AI that gives him advice when he wears the suit. And this version of Flash being a nerd bully could be likened to Cliff Carmichael perhaps? As a lifelong FS mark, I'm cool with this.

Film suffers a 62.2% dropoff it's second weekend. Not surprising with "War" buts it's the biggest first-to-second weekend drop off for a Marvel Studios flick.

If this has already been brought up I apologize. Its cool that Karen, Spidey's AI, was voiced by Jennifer Connelly who is married to Paul Bettany, who voiced Iron Man's JARVIS.

Also, this is probably going to bite me in the ass, but Marvel's "Burger King Kids Club-ing" in this movie was a little gross. I'm all for diversity, but this was the equivalent of someone taking a picture of themselves giving food to a homeless person and posting it on Facebook. There wasn't anything genuine about it besides Marvel going, "Hey! See how progressive and diverse we are! See what we did!? Aren't we good?" Again, I don't intend to come across as an ignorant ass, but it just felt phony. I was honestly expecting Wheels to roll through at any moment. I'm guessing you've never been to Queens? It's one of the most ethnically diverse places on the planet. I've got Italians living on my right, Dominicans on my left, a Korean family on the second floor, and an Irish couple above them. You should see what the classrooms look like here. Which brings me to my second point... I had no problem with the casting at all except for Flash Thompson. I don't know what that character was, but it wasn't Flash. I really liked the modernization of this character. I've been teaching in high school for over 10 years and I've never seen a bully like the original Flash my entire time there. But this new Flash? It was honestly right on the nose as far as what pricks kids are to one another these days.

I'm almost positive you don't; it's a low-income public school in the projects of Jamaica, Queens. A cookie cutter, meat head, jock like Flash would not do well there.

Holland is good, but my god...the rest of the kids were annoying as hell. Anybody else just tired of teenager Spider-Man? Growing up, all my Spidey books were adult and/or married to MJ Spidey. Let the guy grow up. Hell, even a little bit.
