So I have been listening to some 90s gangsta rap and for all of the good stuff there is some really embarrassing stuff on some of those tracks. I'm looking at you Biggie and the outro on "Who Shot Ya?" where it breaks down into a little skit with some guy(supposedly Pac I guess) begging for his life while Biggie is all like "Can't talk with a gun in your mouth". B.I.G is by no means even the most guilty rapper of shit like this, but when I heard that today all I could think of was just how lame that it is in retrospect. That's funny, I thought the same thing today listening to Warning from Ready to Die. There's that skit at the end where the guys are outside Biggie's house like "you've got a red dot on your forehead" "you've got a red dot on your forehead too" "....OH SHIT!" It's really stupid. Well, Ready to Die was Puff's cinematic vision. It was really the first ever album-based presentation of that kind of slickly-produced polished gangsta rap full-length. There really (outside of Scarface's Mr. Scarface is Back) was never really that type of project at the time, especially one that popular. We're now two decades deep into people poorly attempting to re-create Ready to Die so much so that it probably takes a bit away from how groundbreaking and influential skits like that were. But that said "Who Shot Ya?" wasn't actually on Ready to Die, neither was "Dreams," and I've always found both pretty overrated.

If SWISH ever comes out, something tells me it'll be complete buttcheeks. Like, this is gonna wind up being Kanye's "Encore" bad.
I don't base that off any facts, just a gut feeling

Anybody dig Prozak? Always seemed like a rapper I should enjoy, but I just couldn't get into his music. The songs I've heard from his latest album, though, have finally clicked for me.

Kendrick Lamar's Kunta's Groove Sessions is coming to Cleveland!
I haven't been this hyped for a concert in a long, long time.
So glad he's doing a small venue tour. I thought I'd missed out on the opportunity to see him anywhere but a giant arena with bad sound.
Full list of dates here: 10-27 Atlanta, GA - The Tabernacle 10-29 Dallas, TX - South Side Music Hall 11-01 Washington, DC - Lincoln Theatre 11-02 New York, NY - Webster Hall 11-03 Philadelphia, PA - The Trocadero Theatre 11-04 Cleveland, OH - House of Blues 11-08 Los Angeles, CA - The Forum 11-10 Oakland, CA - Fox Theater

I ask for help my fellow Hip Hop Peeps I have wrote 2 rough drafts of songs, however one is too emo for my taste, and the other is too brag rap for my taste. My friend gave me the idea to combine them both, so I was wondering if anyone could look at the two and see if you can give me any ideas Emo One: "Welcome Back" {Spoiler}[Chorus 2x] Ooh...The Life I'm Living Ooh...The Pain I'm Giving and just when I think about fading to black The Devil whispers in my ear "Welcome Back" [Verse 1] Back to Life, Back to Reality Fatality in my mind as my memories fade casually There should be some light, but I am consumed By the darkness. Plus now I feel thoughtless I caught this little sickness all the way back when I knew nothing of the good life and I was bumping "Back Then" Because nobody wanted to deal with the fat kid so I started playing Skid Row and whenever I did flow It was always under pressure as if I was a queen I mean even when it was obscene, it was always just a scene For me to screen past the dreams and into the nightmares Because whenever I stayed right there, nobody was gonna fight fair [Bridge] And every time I feel the heat after I fell I open my eyes and see I'm already in hell And every time I stop believing and I want to stop praying I close my eyes and I hear my inner voice saying... [chorus 2x] [ ]Welcome Back...Welcome Back...It was like you never left...[4X] Brag One: "Watch the Replay" {Spoiler}[Chorus] Watch Me in the moment I walk into the bar Watch Me as I get your boyfriend into my car Watch Me as I buy every single bottle in stock and Watch as even you start craving my jock
[Verse 1] Jock or Nerd, I'm fly like a bird and It's so absurd that within a word I heard myself taking control of the night That's why the haters left is because I'm always right Shot One, Shot Two, Shot Three, Shot You Down With or against me, better choose before the next round I pound into your head that's why they call it a mind f*** You call yourself a creator but all your designs suck I'm blind thus I couldn't see you lying to my face You're such a disgrace, can't keep up with my pace It's a rabbit race, and I consider you a turtle I run the marathon and you just another hurdle You know You're So Vain In a world with No Gain A Tarzan with No Jane Just stuck in the Slow Lane Now check it for a second, you see the dude I just beckoned? I reckon I'm gonna take him to the back and like the beat I'll wreck it

File away under "WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE" news: a new Pimp C album drops next month called Long Live the Pimp. Here's the lead single:
The album will also feature "Wavybone", which was on this year's AT.LONG.LAST.A$AP.

Pusha T was recently named president of G.O.O.D. Music, and he's kicking off his administration with a bang. His new single "Untouchable" is playing here. (NOTE: You're gonna have to keep your cursor on the square. Otherwise the song will start over.)

The new Logic album, "The Incredible True Story", dropped at midnight last night. I'm listening to it right now. I'm pretty sure he's got the voice of Tom from Toonami on this. And the character's last name is Thomas.

I love Hip Hop and I hate Hip Hop
Cause people that love Pac hope that Drake get shot
Cause he raps about money and bitches, for heaven's sake
Pac did the same shit, just on a drum break" That's why I f***s with you, Logic.

What zone is Young Thug even in right now? I've had "Hercules" stuck in my head all damn day, the beats remind me almost like something you'd hear in acid jazz.

My initial thoughts on the Logic album after listening to it all the way through:
I wouldn't call it a classic or nothing like Logic tried to hype it up as but it's my favorite album of the year so far. Sorry Bronson. City of Stars, I Am The Greatest, and Never Been were my favorite tracks but pretty much every track has replay value.

I think I still have Pimp a Butterfly, DS2 and Summertime 06 over it, but it's cracked my glass ceiling.

For those interested, both Chief Keef and Young Chop had releases today: Finally Rollin 2 and Finally Rich Too respectively. Confused? Don't worry, so am I.

If it weren't for Kendrick Lamar and Future, Chance the Rapper would've had the best year out of anybody in hip hop. Everything's he touched has been excellent
