Cena always had a dangerous side where he does not care about his opponents. He has tried to kill ADR by crushing him in equipment and threw Batista off a car after the match was won and there was no reason to. Yet he can also calm quickly look at last week where he threaten to hurt Axel to the point where he could not walk and he calmed down quickly to where he just treated it like a normal match. maybe he took the boos to his heart and worked as heel in his matches? it has happened many times before with Punk goading Del Rio for a WWE title match Punk was clearly meant to be the babyface in that situation though. Same thing with Cena here. I'm fine with wrestlers having an aggressive side but not when the announcers ride their dick and praise them for it as if they don't condemn the exact same shit when a heel does it. It's horribly inconsistent. It needs to be played off as "man, I don't condone Cena's actions here tonight but it's not hard to see why he did it if you look at it from his POV." Not, "Boy, Cena sure is brilliant for his plan tonight!"

Our hero, ladies and gentlemen.
I'll freely admit it, if it was anyone else, I would have no problem with it. But Cena.

Cena as US champion with a nonexistent division gunning for him sounds heavenly.

I already figured the writers didn't watch the show. Now I wonder if the writers even talk to each other or just email rough outlines of the story up to this point. Last year at Mania Cena's big angle was if he would lose his moral compass because of all that Bray was trying. This year ... F morals we need Bad Ass Amurica F YEAH! Some of my favorite awful booking, there. It culminated with Wyatt wanting to be hit with a chair and Cena considering it... and then hitting Rowan with the chair. ...hooray for... overcoming the temptation to do wrong?

He deserved it for cheap shoting #Axelmania before the match started. Rusev is a coward for doing that and deserved it.

Not, "Boy, Cena sure is brilliant for his plan tonight!" to be fair, it's pretty much excusable for Punk since he's always been an anti-hero face who's not afraid to be pragmatic to accomplish goals.

guys, guys.... you're missing a bigger point here.
Cena didn't actually half-ass the crossface portion of the STF this week.

I'm so glad that Cena is now fine with using terrorist tactics after getting all mad at Rollins for threatening to break Edge's neck back last year. Obviously, you could make the argument that Rollins' threat was more severe but, in theory, it's the exact same idea. Cena held someone hostage and threatend serious harm until an outside party gave him what he wanted. What an asshole. Worked for Rollins and he faced absolutely no repercussions for it, calling into question if Steph can even punish him for doing it, after setting that precedent. So, if you can't beat them, join them, I guess.

I don't care, I like this Cena. Hell might be the first time in a looooong time that people weren't loudly booing him.

He's gotta do what he's gotta do.
Cena is awesome and I'm glad he put that asshole in his place tonight.
Can't wait to see him beat Rusev for the title!

Did we suddenly forget that Rusev won at Fastlane in the least clean win he's probably had? Cena was nearing breaking the Accolade, Lana gets on the apron to distract the ref and Rusev kicks Cena square in the balls. Meanwhile he pretends he won in a dominant performance. Hell, Jack Swagger got more tries at Rusev than Cena has. Any dirtier of a win and Rusev would have had to literally s*** on Cena.

I'd be okay with it if Cena's character were actually effected by this. If not next week then by his next feud, he'll be right back to the smiling, joke-telling paragon of virtue who visits sick kids and never gives up. Sort of like how he held Heyman hostage and told him that if Brock didn't show up to fight him, that he was going to beat an out-of-shape non-competitor live on national television. We're not supposed to see this as some dark, desperate corner of Cena that he only taps into at the absolute worst. He's not walking the edge of the abyss; he's saying "nah guys it's cool, I'm cool", plunging headfirst into it, then climbing out the week after and acting like nothing happened. I'm astounded that even people who are a fan of normal, smiling Cena can rationalize these things as even remotely decent writing.

It legit concerns me that there's people who look at the fictional character of John Cena, see him presented as a paragon of moral high ground, and go "yup, that guy is exemplary". It's not "Austin stunning Stacy for disliking beer" levels, but this is still pretty darn shifty. It's not like he's done this to Rollins, where it could be done as a "taste of their own medicine". It's to a guy who beat him in suspect circumstances yes, but who is under no obligation to give him a rematch. If Cena wants a rematch and wants "what's his" first and foremost then fine. But he can't threaten to basically injure/shorten a guy's career, for the guy being jingoistic, in order to get this rematch, then write it off as " aren't I such a good dude?"

They probably should've had Rusev beat up on Axel some more after the match, then Cena comes out and does his ass-kicking thing. That way, Cena comes off as less of an asshole.

You see kids, If you don't get what you want...demand it more. If that doesn't work...threaten someone wwith trying to break someones neck. Its okay cause if Cena does its gotta be true.

guys, guys.... you're missing a bigger point here. Cena didn't actually half-ass the crossface portion of the STF this week. nd the part where cenarolled onto his back with his shoulders down to the mat for more than three seconds before Rusev passed out. Barely conscious Rusev has pinned cena! how many more times must cena lose to him before cena moves on...oh wait cm punk feud "who have you beat to earn that title cm punk?" um you...and the rematch too... "but who have you BEAT cm punk, to earn anyone's respect???"...nevermind.
