He isn't, otherwise this wouldn't have happened. Right, because we're blatantly ignoring when Edge and Jericho flat out said that Nexus should have gone over at SummerSlam, but Cena vetoed it and then admitted he f***ed it up by changing the booking. Gotcha. Go read Jericho’s latest book or actually listen to that podcast. Cena didn’t veto or change anything. That Summerslam finish was always booked to go down the way it did.

Sue he's not. You mean ask Bray Wyatt who has the higher profile match on the Mania card? "Hey Bray why exactly did John Cena book himself against some random guy having his first Mania match when the year before he was beating the Rock? And then why did he go after another fresh out of NXT guy when Lesnar is about to take off with a big victory over him? Did Hogan not teach you anything about self promotion?

"John Cena needs to stop being such a Boy Scout!" *he stops* "Why is John Cena such an asshole terrorist?" Cena is always portrayed as the best, most morally right person in the WWE, so him snapping and beating the shit out of his opponent should be seen as a "crossing the line" moment. There were two separate storylines with Cena last year that was about this exact aspect of his character - Cena was tempted to sink to the level of Bray or Brock, but refused to tarnish his character. So now Cena DOES finally sink to the level of his opponents, and it's not even remotely treated as some defining moment of Cena as a person. He just did what he had to do to get a match with Rusev, and man JBL, #CenaVsRusev is trending right now... It's awful, inconsistent-bordering-on-schizophrenic writing, and another example as to why John Cena is the biggest Mary Sue in wrestling history.

Didn't Stephanie specifically say that it was up to RUSEV to give Cena a match? Since it was Lana, that means it shouldn't count, right? Hahahahaha, but my dear poster, that would make sense!

Unless I missed it. Cena didn't attack him to get a title shot, he attacked him for mocking America. Cena told him if he mock the US one more time he was going to kick his ass, and he did. It was LANA who was gullible enough to give Cena the title shot. Just sayin. But, there is a huge difference between just beating someone up and putting them in a dangerous (and, in kayfabe, the STF is like the most deadly submission in the company) hold and refusing to let it go. Especially when all they did was bad mouth your country. If Rusev was about to kill Axel and Cena made the save and, in the midst of the run-in, lost his shit, I wouldn't have had an issue with the segment. The way they did it, Cena came off like an opportunistic asshole. If he really cared, why did Lana giving him the shot make him stop? Shouldn't he have been so filled with rage that even getting the title shot wouldn't stop him? It was not an appropriate response and, frankly, I feel like that was Cena's plan going in which is ridiculous for the face of righteousness. Hell, the announcers outright said his plan was "brilliant."

When they showed the recap on Smackdown last night, I saw more what people mean. It didn't even cross my mind watching it originally, but Rusev looked like he might die in that hold, he looked so pitiful. It's worse than what Punk did because Del Rio wasn't unconscious. And then a BIG FAKE CHEER! afterward made it all feel weird.
