The "Chris Benoit should be in the HOF" mentality. Or, the "Hitler was an amazing artist" mentality. Yes, he had some artistic talent but he did something else that sort of outweighs that, I'd say This. On a sidenote, I love how everyone lynched DeMott (not that he was right, of course), yet this remains the same fan base that has the CBSBitHOF mentality. I guess if Hugh Morrus was an internet darling??? Not for anything he did outside of work, and to the contrary it is BECAUSE OF HIS WORK, but M. Night Shamyalan = now box office poison 4 life.

That's not exactly a fair comparison because as far as I can tell the Chris Benoit HOF crowd is a small minority of wrestling fans. Maybe I'm wrong but I haven't really seen many actually pushing for that.

What about Alex Rodriguez and Mark Mark McGwire. I would even throw Lance Armstrong into this argument

Frank Miller went from being "The Guy That Made TDKR & Sin City" to "That Old Loon That Lost His Mind After 9/11" pretty quickly.

What about Alex Rodriguez and Mark Mark McGwire. I would even throw Lance Armstrong into this argument At least McGwire still works in the majors in some capacity. I think Sammy Sosa's even worse off. Between the Rangers contract and joining the Yankees, A-Rod might have been tarnished even before his drug admission. Here's another one I didn't see yet: Brian Williams And I liked him, it's a shame now everyone's going to remember him for recent evens.

M Night is going to need a pseudonym. Gibson is probably there too, but may recover in 10 years or so. Pity, as he was really good. Elizabeth Hurley was for a long time for breaking the SAG strike.
But Hollywood has a way of forgiving people, so who knows what's going to happen next.

And someone mentioned Jimmy Saville and wondering if Celebs were defending him? Jim Davidson was defending him and he himself turned out to be a gigantic twat and would never be as popular as he was when he played second fiddle to the likes of Dennis Taylor, Alex Hurricane Higgans, Terry Griffiths and John Virgo on Big Break. Did Davidson really defend Saville? I know the guy was picked up as a Operation Yewtree suspect and it turned up to be a whole bunch of nothing but even a twat like him would know that it would social suicide to defend a monster like Saville.

Raphael Palmero might actually be the worst from the baseball steroid scandal.

Thanks to Operation Yewtree, It feels like every person who was on British television or radio between the years of 1960-present day will be added to this list eventually!

There's no denying the damage it did to his career and credibility while he was alive, though
That's sadly true, his fans still loved him, but the general public was pretty much against him. It shouldn't have had to have been him dying to turn people around, but at least it did.
That's what upsets me about the Michael allegations. There was nothing to prove he did it and more information proving his innocence, and yet, so many misinformed people still believe he actually did it. Is it a case of people swallowing everything the media feeds them or not researching the facts?

Sean Penn and Terrance Howard both beat the shit out of women and one is an Oscar winner and the other is an Oscar nominee. Neither is hurting for work.
It's amazing to see who gets a pass and who doesn't.

Lauren Socha. From BAFTA winner from her role in Misfits to seemingly nothing (her iMDB profile shows very little after Misfits) after drunken assault on cab driver. Her brother Michael on the other hand is doing quite well for himself recently starring in Once Upon A Time in Wonderland.

I am going to go back a little further back in time for my choices:
I wouldn't say Fatty Arbuckle's reputation was tarnished for good. Virginia Rappe is much more tarnished today.
Carl Mays may be in the Hall of Fame had he not beaned Ray Chapman which lead to his death. What made it worse was that Chapman was one of the most liked players in the majors in fact even Ty Cobb liked him.
Dixie Walker for the petition to keep Jackie Robinson out of baseball. It was wrong of him but other players did far worse but Dixie gets the most heat.
I don't believe Mary Miles Minter Killed William Desmond Taylor but no movie studio wanted to get near her after the scandal.

Raphael Palmero might actually be the worst from the baseball steroid scandal. Rafael Palmeiro is already off the Hall of Fame ballot. When you think about it, that's absurd. He hit for power and he hit for average. He was one of the finest hitters of a generation. Why's he been blackballed? Because he was the only guy to so, so, so vehemently deny juicing to the point that, when he got caught, he managed to look even more hypocritical than Roger Clemens. Remember Palmeiro when Andy Pettitte gets into the Hall of Fame. Pettitte doped, too, but he owned up to it almost immediately. He's equally culpable, but voters are going to forgive for the way he handled it.

That's not even getting into his homophobic rants, especially during Hell's Kitchen. The sad thing is that Jim has made something of a comeback, he won Celebrity Big Brother and his homophobia seems to have been swept under the carpet. He's nowhere near what he was in the nineties but he's a lot better received then post Hells Kitchen.

Roman Polanski is still making movies, with A-list stars, and many of them signed a petition supporting him. It's amazing, considering that he's a child rapist who fled punishment for his crime. WARNING! ALERT! NOTICE! I DO NOT SUPPORT, CONDONE, OR EVEN DARE TO FATHOM POLANSKI'S ACTIONS. That is a overly simplified view of what happened with that whole thing. But then whatever I might have something resembling pity for a man, considering the murder of his pregnant wife, and the subsequent three ring circus of a trial, is wiped away because eventually did it AGAIN in France. I do encourage people to watch the documentary on that trial, just so you can understand the the legal system and celebrity has been messed up far longer than a good portion of us has been alive.
