Let's be realistic here. Vince wants yearly games for the revenue.
This being given, HOW do they start from scratch without having two studios, one to work on the current framework and one to create a new one. There's more money for them by putting out the same game, same animations, the very same commentary audio despite yearly talking about 1948459 new phrases being added in. How do they pull it off without taking a loss that they don't need to take?
Remember, 1,000 guys on the internet (this number might even be generous) aren't 200,000+ people who buy this yearly. There are people who buy these games yearly because it's a new wrestling game with new stuff in it. I'd defend previous games from incessant negativity, and I still think the yearly 4/5 people who swear on their children's lives (bro) they won't buy and ultimately buy the game after months of complaining are kind of punishing themselves.
But, after buying a PS4 months ago, getting WWE 2k15 and DLC packs and attempting to play with friends and family, I was disappointed. They took away customization options. They broke the wrestling engine in the game. The stamina system had both players in the red roughly 3 minutes into ANY match, meaning if you had stamina on, you were slumping around the ring in no time. There was no way to change the rules of a specific match prior to it's beginning, as you were stuck with the pre-determined rules. Funny part is if you had stamina on and were in a regular match, there were a lot more count-out finishes than previous years, because guys would just selllllllll a move until those with a controller would look at each other and telegraph the "yeah, this sucks" look.
This year's game will need to fix more than just the engine to get me. I understand less CAWS on next-gen because of the rendering being (arguably) higher quality. But taking out 2/3 falls, create an arena and belts, those moves screamed "Let's put it back in next year to tout it!"
I hope they prove me wrong, but I have my doubts as of now.
