So it hit #2 at the box office and I'm not shocked.
I, like most people I assume, don't need a critic to tell me if I should see a movie or not.
He looks like he's making films to please 8 year olds, and as we know kids will watch ANYTHING as long as it's new.
I have a friend, and I like him. He's 39 and watched this film, now I know he's a reasonable man-he's single though and I think that's why he will watch virtually anything whether he thinks it looks good or not.
So between children with no taste, and lonely men-this is why something like Paul Blart does well.
I'm calling this now, Hot Pursuit, with Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara will bomb big time, even though men drool over Sofia

Zookeeper at least had a plot. The plot of this seems to be "Fatty Fat Fat Is In Las Vegas Because He's Fat." On a unrelated note, there has never been a TV show that has nailed my POV in life more than these 2 episodes.

So, it made 7.3 million on Friday and is on pace to recover most of its budget over the weekend (Projected $24 million on a given $30 million budget). Take that however you want. This is your fault, America. I blame you for everything from here on out.

Just wait until there is the fetish porn equivalent, Paul Fart: Mall Scat 2. Sadly with how uncreative the modern porn industry is with titles, the best we`re going to get is: Paul Blart: A XXX parody. Still, five words that have no business being next to each other whatsoever. I'll sacrifice myself for the straight community and pitch this as a gay porn

Does anyone know when Seth Rogen is going to release his wacky mall cop sequel, that somehow manages to be inexplicably worse? Probably when his current movies start to flop and Pineapple Express 2 comes out.

Hi, I'm Melissa McCarthy and I'm a fat mall cop. *falls on her face* Hi, I'm Melissa McCarthy and I'm a fat zoo keeper. *falls on her face* Hi, I'm Melissa McCarthy and I'm a fat fire fighter. *falls on her face* Somehow I'm not shocked. They're practically interchangeable! Full disclosure: I'm fat too.

Serious question here, but has there ever been any studies done to show that the general public gives a single shit about critic reviews? I mean, these kinds of films get consistently low scores yet (as far as I know) always make back their budget. A recent study found 3% of game purchases are from traditional reviews IIRC. I'd imagine movie reviews are similar.

Bad reviews really do nothing, good reviews can do a lot of good for a movies box office though. Especially if its a smaller film.

Bad word of mouth is probably more damaging than poor reviews from professionals. Fifty Shades Of Grey was destroyed by critics, but the popularity of the books, its general infamy and the ad campaign assured the public wanted to see it for themselves. As successful as it was (especially overseas), the reception and domestic dropoff after Week Two was pretty harsh.
