Anyone going to catch the Alternative Election coverage on Channel 4 with Paxman and Mitchell's crop of comedians? Saw Charlie Brooker's Election Wipe last night. Marry me Philomena Cunk. When she said she felt like Godzilla I lost it. "Democracy was invented in Ancient Greece by Ancient Greeks...probably after a vote"

Can someone summarize how this works? I know it's much different than it is in the states.
Also, Ed Balls for life...because I am still 9.

Watching election wipe now.
I voted Labour, I like the policies proposed by Miliband and I wish the media focused on these rather than who can eat a bacon sandwich better or who likes a pint of bitter.
I'm hoping for anything other than another 5 years of Conservative rule. Unfortunately I think we might get another Tory/Lib Dem coalition IF the Lib Dems get enough seats to make up a majority.

I will try, essentially there is a seat in parliament for representatives of each constituency (local area), everybody votes for someone to be their representative and they usually represent a national party although there are some independents. The person with the most votes in a constituency is announced and they get a seat in parliament. If they represent a national party then that's a seat toward that party's total. If one party can hold the majority of seats in parliament (around 320) they will form a government and run the country for the next 5 years. if no party holds the majority following an election that opens up various possibilities but I won't go into that.

Her saying magma carta translates to cardboard volcano made me spit my drink over myself. I'm predicting Tories win with no majority, due to the dent the SNP will put in Labour's votes. Then we have no coalition.

There's 650 seats across the country, one MP is elected in each seat, and so you need 326 for a majority. No party is gonna come close to that though, so they'll need to work out a coalition otherwise there will be another election.

Voted half an hour ago. Went with Labour who I normally vote for. I'm not a hardcore loyal labour supporter though, just whenever I think about who I want to vote for they annoy me the least
If the SNP had stayed true to their word (I know, a political party not living up to their promises, hold the front page) and guaranteed no more independence referendums for a generation/lifetime then I would have considered voting for them

BBC are gonna reveal their exit poll in a few minutes
EDIT:
Conservatives: 316 Labour: 239 SNP: 58 Lib Dem: 10 Plaid Cymru: 4 UKIP: 2 Green: 2
I'll be shocked if that's accurate

I said earlier I think Nick Clegg won't be leader of the Lib Dems tomorrow, if that poll is even close to the actual result, it looks like he's done.

Yeah if that's even close to accurate Clegg is finished, I'd say the same for Miliband too.

58 seats for the SNP? Christ, I think even the most optimistic SNP supporter wouldn't think they'd get that many.
Labour didn't do as well as I hoped, at this moment it certainly looks like Cameron will be PM for another five years.
