Voted SNP.
Good to see Nick Robinson at the desk tonight. Chap is suffering from lung cancer, and has recently had a tumour removed from his throat, but doubt he'd want to miss it for anything.

I am a little confused, but if there is no majority is there a second election just to vote for the PM? What is more, is the UK a constitutional monarchy or does the queen have absolutely no authority in modern governance and is only a figurehead? If there's no majority then parties can join up and group their points to create a majority, of if they wish and the exit polls are correct they could do a minority government which would mean that they would constantly need other parties to vote with them to get stuff through. First vote through and Labour are 1 up

Sunderland South, which is Labour hardcore, stays Labour.
UKIP sees themselves come second there though

UKIP sees themselves come second there though Its the North East so there was no chance of a Tory win and with the destruction of the Liberal Democrats in this election UKIP were gifted 2nd place. Hell SNP probally would have done better there than either Tory or Lib Dem

The Queen is merely a figurehead. That's what a constitutional monarchy effectively is. If the exit poll from the BBC is true, there will be no need for a second election. The Tories/DUP can form a coalition and Cameron will be PM again. So.......is that a good thing? We Yankees tend to be a little isolated in our political realities to know if Cameron is doing a bang up job or if he is shitting the bed. Also, I know that the Queen isn't wasn't involved in daily governance. I was just asking if she had any reserve powers or any influence, outside of openly supporting her preferred candidates, on the selection of a PM when the Parliament is hung. I voted SNP...so no. And the Queen could in theory see A result of these elections and say "f*** this, Vote again you plebs" but never does.

I think the monarch has weekly meetings with the Prime Minister, but they still grant the PM free reign to run the country. They don't have to abide by the Queen, correct?

I found the petty campaigning around my area very amusing. Last Wednesday there were hundreds of Vote Conservative flags erected on the grass, two days later Labour ones are put right next to them with a bigger flagpole.....only to be usurped two days later by more Conservative flags with an even bigger flagpole. Considering Labour were 1/100 on a betting site to win this constituency, I think the tories need to invest in an even bigger flagpole next time

So the BBC are confident that their exit poll is accurate because of how accurate their 2010 one was, or did I turn on the TV at the wrong point and totally misinterpret what was being said?

Looking at the Sunderland results, UKIP haven't done that great agianst Tories. If thats the case in the north would give Farrage's beer a bitter taste and a skip in Conservatie's steps

The Queen still hold a lot of power, she just wouldnt ever use it because that would cause a crisis and likely lead to her being ditched. The Queen can 'advise' a PM, but in general I believe forms PMs have said what she tends to do is speak very generically about the country, Commonwealth issues and more listens to what she is being told than actually speaks up about things.

Pretty much but, and it's a big butt, The Queen does have the power to tell the PM to f*** off and appoint another PM. (this is the same in all other countries where HRH is the head of state.)

Yup, in theory the Queen is still the head of our military, but if she was to deploy an army herself with no parliamentary input, it would indeed lead to crisis!!

So I'm going to ask a question with more importance than who did you vote for? What are you watching? BBC,ITV,Channel 4, Sky News, Kinky Boots? I'm flicking between Channel 4 and BBC, I'm enjoying the comedy but I'm annoyed that I missed the third point for Labour.

Paxman doing comedy off the autocue is a bit awkward at times, shame because when he's responding of the cuff he's quite witty and genuinely funny.

Nothing from Labour. In fact, Labour's campaigning as a whole was pretty poor where I live in Broxburn. I saw more stuff about the SNP than I did Labour (although I got a bunch of Labour leaflets through the door and the one odd UKIP leaflet).

They should of gotten rid off Romesh and the Irish lass and replaced them with a comic like Dara O Brien who could have co hosted with Paxman to take off the weight of the comedy bits

Terrifying thought. How smug The Sun will be if the Tories do indeed stay in power.
