SNP's Natalie McGarry wins nearly double the votes of Glasgow East from Margaret Curran.
This is turning into an absolute slaughter.

Looking likely. The only hope Labour has is either UKIP pick up a lot of little seats down south or Labour basically just take the entire north. Unlikely in both ends and it looks like the UK for the next while is the Conservatives to keep. There would need to be almost a grass roots movement to beat the Conservatives in England now. I was expecting the Tories to be the biggest parties but I thought Labour would hold and gain enough to be around 275 or so allowing a Lab/SNP Government or informal alliance. Gotta say as a yank who follows British politics fairly closely (I'm currently reading a biography of Tony Benn) I'm kinda surprised. Most people are, Labour looked like it was on par in England in the polls but the exit polls and the votes so far have shown that they are a long way off. This might be the most exciting time to follow British politics, the rise of the SNP in the Houses of Parliament, the fall of the Liberal Democrats, the stumble of Labour and the dominance of the Tories.

I was talking to a family friend of mine who is a national political journalist about the rise and fall of Clegg. Again from an outside perspective it seemed that Clegg "won" the 2010 leaders debate. But then it seemed like the Lib Dems gave up most everything to join the coalition, mostly giving up on proportional representation.

Honestly when they started it was all roses and all good, the liberals holding the right accountable. Then the vote on getting rid off FIrst Past the Post came, when the Tories just crushed the Lib Dems in order to keep the status quo and you just saw Nick Clegg crumble. Then the fact that tuition fees went up when the Lib Dems basically had scrapping them as a key feature of their manifesto which lost the youth vote for the Lib Dems which was basically their foundation for decades

Before the last election, Clegg promised to scrap tuition fees if the LibDems got into power, they got into power and tuition fees were not scrapped. This is basically the reason why LibDem are getting their arses handed to them tonight. With that one particular failed promise, their fate was sealed for the next decade. No one trusts Clegg now. IMO his career in the higher echelons of UK Politics is over.

I once said that the Liberal Democrats with power is much like a donkey with a shotgun, no one knows how it got it, we're not sure they know what to do with it and were pretty sure the donkey and everyone around it is going to get hurt.
