The Supreme Court of the United States voted in favor of legalizing same-sex marriage across the country. Normally, we don't allow this subject to be discussed in the FAN Forums. However, we understand the significance of this topic and we are aware that there are a lot of members who would like to discuss it. So for today and today only, we will allow discussion. However, much like during major elections, mods will be heavily monitoring the thread and will be implementing restrictions. Those include:
1: Limiting all discussion to this thread
2: Do not attack each other
3: Remain civil and express your opinions calmly
4: Do not drift the conversation toward other political topics.
As stated, we will be monitoring this thread closely and reserve the right to shut it down when and if necessary

Very cool and WAY overdue.
But, I can no longer use the standard, "I'll get married when EVERYONE can get married" excuse when GFs push the wedding issue.
Also, they couldn't have timed it better. San Francisco Pride is this weekend so the city is gonna explode. I will be safely in Oakland....which is probably the first time anyone's ever said that.

Basically repeat what I said on Facebook:
Congratulations to the men and women who fought and even died for the right to freely love who you want and do so in a most enduring way. May the struggles and sacrifices you went through never be forgotten.

I am incredibly happy for my queer friends. There's still a lot to do, but this is a pretty huge deal and a landmark moment for civil rights.

I'm just glad to see all people in the USA that genuinely love each-other now have the chance to officially and legally be married without fear of the government.

I wish I was back in NY right now because that Pride parade next week is gonna be so hype.

I'll say what I said in the thread that was taken down
I'm glad this happened but I personally don't see the big deal. I see the historical significance don't get me wrong but it doesn't affect me because I had no plans of marriage to begin with. Not only that but there are bigger issues on the LGBT agenda that could be settled but everyone on my Facebook feed acts like this is the main one that needed to be solved (and do not get me started on gay couples calling out "the haters")
Overall I appreciate the happiness that this will bring everyone, it's just personally not for me

As a straight man, I've just got one thing to say, oh f*** yeah.

Now that I got my serious answer out of the way:
I'm just glad that same sex couples can now get married and suffer like the rest of us

This is something, ideally, that all Americans should celebrate and be happy about. History was made today, luckily in the right direction.

Even though I say this as a straight man, I hope Australia isn't too far behind in following suit and making it completely legal here.

Neat. Gay folks should have the right make drunk mistakes in Las Vegas too.

Neat. Gay folks should have the right make drunk mistakes in Las Vegas too. After living in Vegas, i can safely say that was happening before this was legalized

Excellent news! I'm surprised they can legalize it across the nation as I always thought it was one of those things that is decided from state to state. Either way, very very good news and a huge step forward for American LGBT people.
My favourite quote regarding gay marriage was when we legalized it not too long ago and a news show interviewed a gay couple who was celebrating:
But yeah, I can only imagine this news is making homosexual people very, very gay.

I'm glad that I can now go to weddings and be confident that the reception playlist is gonna be bangin'. Seriously though, it's a good day. My aunt can get married now.
