Now, I've watched wrestling for a good few years, so I think I understand the heel/face dynamic. Rusev is the snarling, America hating heel. Got it. Dolph is the blue eyed, smiling funny baby face. Got it.
So why in the name of f*** is the HEEL dropping his crutches and standing up to the FACE, who will gladly fight him? Why are the commentators saying that even with a broken foot Rusev could still beat Ziggler?
I get that the storyline has probably had to be altered because of Rusev's injury, but my God. How do you turn Lana, who was getting legitimate heat and then "we want Lana" chants to getting bored "what" chants in the space of a month?
This whole feud has really exposed Lana, more so the character than the performer ("he made me hate America"..Huh?!) and makes Ziggler look like an asshole who will fight a guy with a broken foot after stealing his girlfriend.
I know the whole "who is the face here" thing is old, but seriously. Terrible writing.

I'm sure some people would say it paid for itself on Lana's upskirts from a poorly thought out brawl, but yeah, seriously, it's been really baffling. Especially since in an era with so many "Smart fans", it doesn't help that quite a bit of the audience has got to be aware Lana and Rusev live together and are practically common law married.

They are padding this out like mad waiting for Rusev's injury to heal, and as such, it is exposing Ziggler and Lana badly.

"He made me hate America!"
Uh, Lana? He was the Bulgarian Brute until he met you. You're the one who turned him into an anti-American Hero of the Russian Federation.
Remember when WWE claimed that RAW had been watched by over a billion people, and somebody pointed out that number would only be possible if every one of those folks watched RAW *once* and never again? Does WWE really think that's the case? "I'm Bulgarian! I love Lana! I'm gonna be Russian for her!" was only like two years ago.

Obviously the fact Rusev is injured has put the brakes on the feud but it's not helped by the fact Lana and Dolph have ZERO chemistry. It has proved that Rusev is a legit star - he has nailed it and if anything he has been too good.

Rusev shouldn't be on TV at all since he's injured.
But without Rusev there's really no reason for Lana to be on TV either. She isn't managing anyone else and she doesn't wrestle. So this is what we're stuck with.

Rusev is the face in all of this. I cant see anything at all likeable about Lana or Dolph at all.

As I said in another thread Lana as a character just can't be a babyface. She's the epitome of that icy blond Russian heel. Watching Raw on Monday the last thing I wanted to hear about was how passionate Dolph Ziggler is in bed, and it doesn't help that with Rusev hurt he's out there on crutches and looking fairly sympathetic. Further, if Summer Rae is now with Rusev why does he even care about Lana? It reminds me of Jarrett/Angle in TNA feuding over Karen even though she's now married to Jarrett and has no intention of ever going back to Kurt (nor did he want her back). What are they feuding over?

Another dumb storyline with zero continuity. Ever since Rusev debuted, Lana was supposed to be his conniving "handler." Now all of a sudden that gets retconned with no explanation at all, like a lot of other things in WWE.

I don't know, bro, seems great to me. I actually prefer "Thoughtful" Vince Russo to "Smiling idiot" Vince Russo. yeah this story's lost me. Vince is an idiot. typical "take everything interesting about someone way" booking, like when they took Ricardo away from Del Rio.

Rusev is the face in all of this. I cant see anything at all likeable about Lana or Dolph at all. Yeah its not like Rusev is the one who acted like the obsessed jealous dangerous ex who bullied and insulted her into leaving in the first place.

Did they ever really even imply that Lana and Rusev had some kind of personal relationship? I thought she was like his state sponsored advocate or something.

The thing that really got me was Dolph's line about how he would take care of Rusev's other foot.
When was the last time someone threatened an injured man on WWE in that exact fashion? About five days earlier on NXT where Owens said virtually the same thing to Hideo Itami.
One is a supposed face, and the other is a scumbag heel (albeit one who should be a saint for Powerbombing MGK).

That segment was absolutely awful Rusev is nailing it in sympathetic role, but it's just that Ziggler and Lana have woeful chemistry and Ziggler's promo last night was cringe worthy.

This is why the WWE can't do continuity or nuanced and subtle long term storylines because no one remembers the history of current feuds that are only a monthish long
