I personally feel like Cena realizes that no matter what he does some people will never give him credit and he's perfectly Ok with that. Knowing he is nearing the end of his career he is simply having fun in the ring and doing new things. I personally love his matches and find that they have been some of the best matches in any promotion. I also like the story they are selling with him needing to do these to put away Owens. Cena also appears to be having more fun in the ring than he has had in a long time which adds to the enjoyment of the matches.
I see no problem with it. It added a new layer to Cena's character and legacy and in the process has done a great job of building up Owens as a future star. In the end Cena will go down as one of the all-time greats and deserves every bit of that.

There's a big difference between Cena's spot heavy matches and the boring asssed suplex parties Angle's been putting on in TNA for years.

Ehhh, Terry Funk didn't start breaking out moonsaults till he was in his fifties, not sure how someone trying to expand their moveset is supposed to be a bad thing

Not only does it look desperate and silly on a guy like him, he's gonna end up ending someone's career doing them one of these days. There's been a few times with things like his top rope Sicillian Slice, his hurricanrana, that Yoshi Tonic, where it's going to go wrong. All he needs to do is abandon the AA and start using a Styles Clash and he'll be set.
The irony is that everyone criticized him for only having 5 moves, and now he's trying to be a spot monkey with this stuff. If it was anyone else, I'd be impressed that person was improving their skillset. But on Cena, it looks so obvious he's relying on the other guy to carry his moves and hit his spots.
