Hi, metal fans! I recently resurrected a five-year-old Metal Song tournament over in the games section of the forum. First song to four votes moves on. The current match up (Gojira's "Where Dragons Dwell" vs. Motorhead's "Louie Louie") is sitting at 3-1. If you fine folks would be so kind as to vote well it would sure be appreciated. officialfan.proboards.com/thread/498934/music-tournament-best-metal-song?page=5

Not sure if it’s worth an individual post, but Slipknot fired Chris Fehn. Dude’s role seemed to essentially be banging on a keg while wearing a mask. Maybe behind the scenes he was a big influence on songwriting, but I doubt it. Probably the most successful metal band of the modern era is down several members in the last couple years, could they become like the death metal Kiss, maintaining a nine man roster when their sound could easily be replicated by five people? Don’t forget jerking his mask off. People with those skills don’t come around every day.

Blaze bayleys solo albums are rather good Yes! Some love for Blaze! His personal life went off the rails, but his music is still spot on. I'm sad that his solo work was never more popular. Silicon Messiah, Blood And Belief, and The Man Who Would Not Die are my favorite albums. And the last four songs from Promise And Terror, about the death of his wife, is truly heart wrenching and emotional.

I don't think his personal life has been too bad the last few years actually I love blood and belief, silicon messiah and tenth dimension. Didn't care for man who would not die really but love promise and terror. King of metal was a bit of a dud. The trilogy of infinite entanglement albums I have enjoyed a lot too.

Alex Meilenwald's pre-Ruins of Beverast project and one of my favorite Black Metal releases. A songwriting clinic on display here.

Some quick album reviews of 2019 stuff:
New In Flames was okay, but it dies a sad death towards the end New Noisem is good, more thrashy New Rotting Christ is good but a repeat of every album they’ve done the last ten years New Bring Me the Horizon was good, but not metal. I think they recorded it without telling their guitar player to show up New Pissgrave is f***ing awesome. The cover matches the music perfectly
