Thoughts on the new Slipknot song? The chorus is a little too Stone Sour for me. I enjoy everything else, but yeah, I can't get into the flow of the chorus. All Out Life was definitely the better song and it's not even on the new album. It sounds like a Slipknot song. That's really it,. There's nothing that makes it stand out from a lot of their recent work.

At the very least, it felt like their older work. This new song feels like it could've been a b-side from their last album.

While most of that lineup sucks, I'd go for Cattle Decapitation and Rivers of Nihil alone, and to see what a disaster the current incarnation of The Faceless is. The Faceless’ off-stage drama is almost as entertaining as Puddle of Mudds. I still have no idea how Mike keeps finding people to play why him.

The new Slipknot gets a huge MEH from me. I thought it started off interesting enough until Corey started singing. Turned it off half way. Might give it another chance later on, though. The Faceless’ off-stage drama is almost as entertaining as Puddle of Mudds. I still have no idea how Mike keeps finding people to play why him. Yeah, didn't all his bandmates quit on him at once not too long ago?

For what it’s worth, I saw them recently on the Plantary Duality anniversary tour and I thought it was a good show. I also like that I’ve seen them live three times with three different singers.

Sadly I will be missing that show at NYDM Spring Bash X thanks to work. Which is a shame because Anvil is also on the bill (among others, including co-headliners Evildead and Hirax, Deceased, Carnivore A.D., and local death metal legends Morta Skuld. I got to see them last month as part of Profane's 25th Anniversary show and they're f***ing awesome live). Morta Skuld - haven't heard that name in years. Can't even remember what they sound like, they got lost in the shuffle when I was downloading every damn thing. I'll have to check them out again. I'm going to quote this handsome bastard and say "Dying Remains" is a pretty awesome doomy Death Metal album.

I guess this goes here. Was just informed by a friend that he snagged us tickets to Iron Maiden (with openers The Raven Age) in September, followed three days later by Babymetal (with Avatar opening). Should be interesting.

Boarding a plane in about an hour to Baltimore for MDF! Planned on going for Sunday but decided not to when The Chasm scheduled a show in Pittsburgh. Then that was cancelled. So that sucks. Interested in hearing some highlights and lowlights. Heard they moved back indoors at Ram's Head?

Just learned of this incredible and unique band, and I’d highly encourage everyone to check them out if you haven’t.

Interested in hearing some highlights and lowlights. Heard they moved back indoors at Ram's Head? Highlights have been Mortician, Revenge, Abyssal, Neckbeard Deathcamp and Immolation (who played twice because someone cancelled, Vomitory I think. Biggest surprise were Blood. I was not expecting them to be so awesome. And Phil played one Pantera song at the end of Scours set, Strength Beyond Strength Lowlights were maybe Zemial and then just a bunch of death metal bands that all sound the same. Merch prices were a bit higher than I thought. I think I got nine CDs from Hells Headbangers for $100, which isn’t bad but one was a dollar. I’d have thought everything would have been five or eight dollars because they probably sell more in these four days then in the next four months. I bought every CD they had with the word “goat” in the bands name. I got Goat Semen, Goat Penis, Black Goat and two others I forget.

Wait and Bleed, Left Behind, etc etc.

Seeing Slough Feg tomorrow. They were an important band for me when I really started getting into Metal. Maiden fans should enjoy:
