The rest of 1994 and the RAWtrospective will be covered next Monday-Friday to wrap up the year and move right into 1995 shortly after. Would you consider doing a review for Nitro that was happening at this time as well ?

I'm mulling over if I'll do Nitro when the time comes. Still have a way to go until Nitro's premiere in '95, but it might happen.

It would be good to get comparison as one of Vinces arguments was that though Nitro got better ratings, Raw was the better product.
Although it's literally been 2 decades (Jesus that long !!) since Iv seen them, I do think he had a point for 97, if only because the USA v Canada storyline and of course both Stone Cold and Rocks rise were incredible. For 96 though, no way I thought Nitro was far better than Raw albeit Shawns in ring talent was the best

1995 is one of those years that actually (surprisingly) had so much potential, the talent was there (albeit, thin on the ground) they just booked everyone in the wrong spot, and gave everyone horrible gimmicks. Instead of booking Bret & Undertaker against every jobber and hokey fat monster, they should have been pushed in the main event. This is my favourite year to fantasy book because the tools are there to make it great. I might have a go as this progresses.
Bret, Diesel, Undertaker, Shawn, Luger, Bulldog, Owen, Razor, 123 Kid, Bam Bam, Yoko, Hakushi, Sid, Jarrett, Road Dogg, Hunter, Candidio, Douglas and so on. Theres alot you can do with the cast of characters that they had.

Oh yeah don't get me wrong, there were alot of reasons behind the problems they had. I am reading through the Observers at the moment from 1995. The problems didnt effect everyone though (Bam Bam/Candido/Douglas were victims) there was no excuses for how Undertaker and Bret were booked. I think they finally realised this come the end of the year. I cant believe how awesome and marketable Hakushi was and they really dropped the ball with him.

In 1995, the talent was there but the booking wasn't, people were slapped with bad gimmicks then put up against the Kliq who made sure they were going to gain any traction.

The decision to add more PPV's during such a bad time is pretty shocking as well, I am up to August in the Observers and the future of the company is looking bleak in terms of bankrupcy and in the summer they let go a mass amount from the front office as well as half of the undercard roster. It may have been the first time they ever had such a big mass cull.

As a kid I thought Double J was bland both in the ring and on the Mike and with his whole gimmick and reading the reviews, merely confirms that view as an adult. The it is funny that he genuinely thought (from interviews etc) that he was a big star LOL Also those pictures of Shawn in those Raw episodes, showed he wore some really village people outfits and give a lot toTrips saying why people thought he was batting for the other side at the time.

Curiosity, in case I start my Nitro reviews, how do you get your screenshots?

Curiosity, in case I start my Nitro reviews, how do you get your screenshots? I use a program called Irfanview, which is useful if you want to just crop images. Just boot it up, use print screen on the parts you want screen shots of, paste it in Irfanview and voila.

Loved your retrospective but I disagree about Tatanka being the worst. Not because he wasn't bad, he was, but he'd been like that since 1992, it was nothing new. While the Lex Express already broke down in 1993. Also to be fair, 94 was the year Tatanka had, his 1 and only good match, with Owen at King of the Ring. Nope for me it had to be Double J, Jeff Jarrett. Bland both in and Out of the ring with a crappy guitar gimmick. Also unlike many other wrestlers, (seeing as he would use it in WCW and TNA) it was his own rather than one Vince slapped on him. They even gave him the Roadie as as a side kick and that didn't work. Agree with Owen being wrestler of the year, while his and Brets feud deserved to win the storyline of the year. I still can't believe Vince didn't have them Headline Summer slam instead of the Under Faker
