Bear in my mind I have never watched women MMA or boxing, if we're speaking strictly wrestling, no women wrestling has given me the same buzz of watching a men match. And I don't think any of them are the level of mid-level guys. Now I have not watched NXT before so maybe Charlotte did some great stuff there, she's clearly better than the others as far technique, etc...But so far, they are still a novelty act until one of them really show me something. Show me something that the men cannot do for example. There's an entire promotion called AJW that would change your mind. They sold out the Tokyo Dome in 1994.

Not only a great female heel stable but a great heel stable in general. All 3 were great in-ring workers and all 3 had a ton of charisma. Sorry, but men could not pull off that gimmick as it was 100% female. Also, Lacey was an absolutely awesome worker in every aspect. Pick up Shimmer, more than a novelty act and Shimmer has had some great matches and presents the women as actual athletes and not just eye candy.

Has Greg Valentine ever been relevant since his feud with Ronnie Garvin in 1990? Shouldn't the mod hommies put this in Wrest? His fued with Ronnie Garvin was relevant? That felt like one of the dullest, longest dragged out fueds ever. In fact, all of Hammers fueds were pretty dull.. Brutus, Garvin, Hart Foundation, Babyface run etc. All bored me to tears.

I can't take Greg Valentine seriously, because he looks like the evil mom gang leader from The Goonies.

Those quotes aren't really accurate cause ya know it takes Greg at least 45 mins just to get warmed up for an interview...

Oh, Greg. Greg, Greg, Greg. Funny thing is, Ronda Rousey probably drew more against Bethe Correia than the Hammer did in his career. Well Greg has never headlined a show since forever. But he was part of the WWF at their peak in the 80s with Hulkamania and all that stuff. Bear in mind it was more of a team effort but these guys made a crazy ton of money. SNME had like 10.0 ratings. Not sure if Rousey will ever come close to making the kind of money the 80s wrestlers made. George St. Pierre didn't even get close to that. If Greg made crazy money, he wouldn't have worked the 90s as a JTTS long past the point it got sad and he wouldn't still be working indy shows. The 80s star were well paid by wrestling standards, but very few former WWF talents from that period are living the kind of life you would expect from people who supposedly made a fortune. I don't know much about Ronda Rousey and MMA, but the media landscape is much different now, her success is happening at a period of time it's far harder to get eyes on screen or to get people to pay for a product, while SNME got a 10.0 in a pre cable boom, pre internet period. Broaden the fanbase. I'm not talking drawing in horny teenage boys here, a well booked female wrestler could be an inspirational figure to a generation of young girls the way Wendi (Who contributed far more to the success of the Rock and Wrestling Era than Greg ever did) and Lita were but they're never going to get there if bookers keep on sticking them in Moolah style catfight matches or using them to get over barely trained eyecandy with no passion for what they're doing. Give properly trained female wrestlers time to work and show they have personality and they will get as over as much as the male roster.

63 year old man has outdated view on life. Hardly a shocker is it? Thankfully it is an outdated view and that he didn't share his opinion on homosexuality as well We've gotta stop using the "he's old so whatever" excuse. There are plenty of old people who don't hold racist/homophobic/misogynistic views. Growing old doesn't mean your brain stops working.

Check out Mickie and Trish's WM match. Excellent stuff imo. It was good. But not close to the level of the best men matches. Also, that was one match. Let's be real here. Greg is stupid as Hell to say all this stuff. But I cannot lie to myself and say that I would prefer to watch any of the current Divas wrestles than guys wrestle. Even if I'm sick of seeing Sheamus and Orton. Wrestling is driven by creativity and personality, it isn't just athleticism. It's all about being interesting, and women can be as interesting as men. Given the choice, under most circumstances, I'd rather watch a Sasha Banks match than a Sheamus match.

I believe every female wrestler should have the right to be just as terrible a wrestler as Greg.

I don't see a guy on Valentine's level, even though he was there for ages, making more money than Ronda; especially not significant money. Not when she's one of, if not THE top draw in her sport right now and then you factor in sponsorship deals, endorsements the movie appearances and the like. That's no knock on Greg either, I just don't see any way that he blows her away financially on any level. I'll concede I don't have access to their respective earnings to prove that one way or another; but just from a logic standpoint it seems to make sense that that's not true. If there are numbers somewhere, I'd be happy to say I'm mistaken.
That aside, eh, it's sort of a misguided opinion; but it's not hard to see why a dude from that era would have it. Plus, he has just enough hyperbole in what he's saying that it seems like he was playing for laughs anyway.

There have been more great women's matches in the past year in NXT alone than Greg Valentine had in his entire career.

The ultimate vindication here is that women like Charlotte, Sasha, et al..., are all making more money than Greg ever made, and will also probably never be reduced to wrestling for gas money and a six-pack in the middle of Mudlick, KY, so.....I'm gonna go ahead and give the win here to the ladies.

Yeah, you'd think someone who looks that much like an old lady would support women's wrestling

There are plenty of old people who don't hold racist/homophobic/misogynistic views. Growing old doesn't mean your brain stops working. My point was purely that the sort of attitude he has was a lot more prevalent during his younger years. His being old isn't what caused his opinion, I'm sure he's had the same opinion for the majority of his life. And I know not all old people share his views, just like how not everybody growing up today will be as accepting as general society seems to be and 30-40 years down the line will still be racist/homophobic

It's like something a caricature of a sexist would say.

I believe every female wrestler should have the right to be just as terrible a wrestler as Greg. His main complaint about womens' wrestling: "They warm up before the match!"
