I fell off the How I met your Mother train around season 4 when I realized that it was slowly morphing into the Barney show but man part of it was how annoying Ted Mosby was getting. I mean, good grief, a 27 year old man constantly going on about "The one" and telling his children the story about meeting "the love of his life" with stories of him banging random skanky women along the way and never ending pining over Robin Scherbatsky. I try not to be a DudeBro but I was like "grow some balls man and move on with your life".
But I recently started watching Friends again on Netflix and remembered how much I hated Ross from Friends. Very definition of "OMG, Friendzoned!" guy. The "will they, won't they" aspect is annoying enough. The whole "Ross really likes her, but is too scared to tell her and then grows jealous of everyone that she's with" is really grating.
What other characters you find yourself rooting against as time goes on of your favorite tv shows?

Ray definitely started grating on me a little by the end but he was still 100x better than Robert.

JD from Scrubs becomes a gigantic asshole at the end of season 3. He wrecks Elliot's life and then goes on a guitar hero world tour of being an asshole to everyone he knows.

Larry Appleton: if there was ever a "punch me in the damn balls because I deserve it" award...it would go to him (If Alan Harper didn't receive it already...)

Agree with Alan Harper he just become a unlikeable sob. Another one who would come across that way Larry David in curb even tho I love him could see why people wouldn't like him but there wrong so don't count

F*** Ted Mosby. And JD while we're at it. My college friends loved the show, after a while, I watched only to see the Janitor try to kill him.

Sheldon Cooper from Big Bang Theory. All my friends compare me to Sheldon and to this day I don't know if it's a compliment or an insult.

The main cast of Seinfeld aside from Kramer.

The main cast of Seinfeld aside from Kramer. Sure, but that was kind of the point of the show. They were all assholes, except Kramer kinda, and half the fun was in watching them get their comeuppance.

Kryten becomes an unsufferable manchild (er... droidchild?) in Red Dwarf VII and VIII. Kochanski gets a bad rap for being unlikeable but she's far more sympathetic and relatable than Kryten and his petty jealousy and tantrums. JD from Scrubs becomes a gigantic asshole at the end of season 3. He wrecks Elliot's life and then goes on a guitar hero world tour of being an asshole to everyone he knows. I rarely react out loud to things I watch on TV, but when it got to the episode where Elliot leaves Sean for JD and JD immediately realises he doesn't want her I burst out with "Are you f***ing kidding me?!" and scared my girlfriend half to death.

Yeah, you really only need to watch the first two seasons and the last two seasons of Scrubs. Seasons 3-6 are garbage.

Yeah..I got this. Awkward maybe but definitely not unlikable. His heart was truly in the right place and he viewed the Winslow's as a second family to him.

While I liked the premise of "The Last Man on Earth," the main character is such a jackass that it became hard for me to stick it out thru the season

Yeah I think in general the whole Friendzone "pining for my one true love Season upon Season" protagonist is really falling out of fashion. Going back and watching it again, I don't think Family Matter's really holds up.
