The Hero for Hire's Netflix show has finalized it's cast list.
That's one strong cast. I haven't seen Simone Missick, but I've always loved Rosario Dawson, Alfre Woodard is an amazing actress, and Ali and Whaley never disappoint. Already looking forward to this one.
Marvel has rounded out the cast list for its upcoming Netflix show Luke Cage, with official announcements for four more key characters.
As previously reported, Simone Missick (Ray Donovan) will join the cast as Harlem detective Misty Knight, who seeks to learn the truth behind Cage.
“We know fans have waited years to see Misty Knight brought to life, so we had to find the right actress,” said Executive Producer/Marvel's Head of TV Jeph Loeb. “Simone blew us away with her performance as the strong-willed cop on a mission.”
Furthermore, Alfre Woodard's casting was also confirmed, with Marvel revealing that she plays "Mariah Dillard, a local Harlem politician--and cousin to recently announced Cornell 'Cottonmouth' Stokes (Mahershala Ali)--who is looking to bring a new era of change to the streets she grew up on. Her personal life and professional career are thrown into turmoil by both Harlem's newest hero Luke Cage as well as her cousin Cottonmouth's nefarious acts."
Marvel also announced today that Frank Whaley (Pulp Fiction) will be Knight's partner, Rafael Scarfe. Theo Rossi (Sons of Anarchy) is also confirmed play the criminal Shades.
Finally, Rosario Dawson will indeed reprise her Daredevil role as Claire Temple. The announcement states that she'll develop a friendship with Luke Cage that will impact both of their lives.
The four new cast members join Mike Colter as Luke Cage. The series will focus on Cage as a fugitive, trying to rebuild his life in Harlem but forced to fight for his city while taking on the heroic mantle risks exposing his past.
