I doubt there's any legit music sharing site out there that isn't going to have those terms and conditions. And the worse that could happen is somebody puts a claim in and your mixtape gets taken down. You aren't getting sued or anything like that.

Well it's true, so whatever. The terms and conditions claim that you have to exclusively own everything you upload. Now apart from my really early terrible songs which use terrible beats I attempted to make myself, all the other songs use beats that I don't own. Now the majority of those beats are royalty free beats, but there are a few which aren't, which I've either gotten permission to use (but since YouTube changed it's messaging system, I've lost the messages I sent and received, so I've lost my proof), or in the case of a few songs they use commercial beats. Those aren't a huge deal as it's only a few songs, but still. And finally there are the songs which use beats that are labelled as free, but I've not asked permission or told the beatmakers that I've used them. With the royalty free beats I don't bother asking or anything, but these beats are ones from people who usually sell beats, but they were giving away some 'free use' beats at the time (a couple of years ago now). And on a final point, I could easily make a whole heap of excuses for not releasing them, yes. See above. I know plenty of rappers who use bandcamp and publish mixtapes w beats they don't necessarily have the rights too. It's a pretty common practice on there. I know, and that's what confused and worried me even further. The worst I've come across in that regard has to be Datpiff. A lot of people on there seem to use exclusive beats that producers are selling that aren't for free use, but they use them anyway. Not only that, but they don't credit the producers of the beats either. I doubt there's any legit music sharing site out there that isn't going to have those terms and conditions. And the worse that could happen is somebody puts a claim in and your mixtape gets taken down. You aren't getting sued or anything like that. Yeah well I'm a person who worries about everything, and my main worry was getting sued.

That took and unexpected dark turn toward the end. Well it's true, so whatever. Nah dude. You have internet access, which puts you ahead of a decent amount of the population. You can type pretty articulately, putting you ahead of even more. And you live in Australia, which from everything I've heard is a nice ass country, putting you ahead of even more. So doing the math, you're ahead of a good amount of people (to say you've got it better than 1 billion people would be a very conservative estimate). Your life isn't meaningless, for real. But yeah, another option would be just to dm people you want to listen to about a mixtape. One of my friends is a rapper and he shamelessly plugs his stuff any chance he gets, so if you're looking for something specific, you could just ask the source.

Most of these.
Plus, with some of the worries, having some confidence about your own ability would help make it work better than even just finding where to put it. Worrying about the quality will just make you overthink it, and turn some people off of giving it a try. When you're worrying about what's on your tracks outright, the only worry that works is "I'm really worried about the quality of my mixtape...
...I'm worried my tape's about to burn the whole damn city down, because s***'s FIRE!".

if your tape gets pulled for copyright you can push it elsewhere as 'the mixtape so hot the law needed to protect people from it'

But yeah, another option would be just to dm people you want to listen to about a mixtape. One of my friends is a rapper and he shamelessly plugs his stuff any chance he gets, so if you're looking for something specific, you could just ask the source. Well that's the first time anyone on the internet has ever called me 'articulate' in any way shape or form. Usually it's the exact opposite - on the forum I used to post on before I started posting here more often, I'd often get into arguments and I had at least 3 prominent members of the forum (including a moderator) call me retarded and worthless. It eventually got so bad that it spilled outside the site and onto other websites, lot's of nasty private messages sent both ways, me recording a terrible 'disstape' towards the worst member of the site, and the then official podcast of the site making fun of me. I still have nightmares over it, and it's the main reason I stopped posting there and started posting here more instead. Besides that, the people from that site which I did get along with I can talk to through Twitter anyway. As for living in Australia...I can't talk politics here, so I'll leave it at that. I've never had confidence about anything in myself. Ever. I've never had self esteem either. And whenever I do manage to build up the slightest bit of confidence, the internet always has a way of taking it away from me and making me feel even worse than I did in the first place. As for the quality, it varies drastically. You won't get sued, it'll just get taken down Well if that's the case I might give Bandcamp a try...if someone could confirm that it doesn't cost anything that is. I listen to mixtapes on Datpiff. I upload music on Soundclick and ReverbNation. I have a ReverbNation account. I've had one since I started recording my (terrible) music back in 2012...I don't really use it or monitor it much. Same with my YouTube account. I stopped uploading music there ages ago now for various reasons (and the majority of the stuff I uploaded there has since been removed). I used soundclick back in the day for my instrumentals. It was a pretty good setup. I'm going to have to record/upload some new stuff soon though so this thread is helpful. Just pick one of the sites and upload your stuff. No one is going to make fun of you for putting it out there or anything. Do it just for the experience. What good are ideas or art that aren't/isn't shared? I somehow missed this post last time, but as I stated above, I've already been made fun of once a couple of years ago, and the main reason I don't want people listening to my music is that I don't want people making fun of me.

So after thinking about it, I'd be willing to try Bandcamp or Datpiff, but I'm still a bit confused as to whether they cost anything or not. Does anybody here know for sure if they're free or not?

I guess nobody knows then. Visit the sites. They're pretty explicit about how they operate. Stop making excuses and procrastinating and just post your music. Right now you have nothing up and getting anything out there is a step in the right direction.
