I asked this on Twitter and got no response, so I guess I'll ask it here as well, even though I'd prefer not to. Does anyone know of any free, reliable websites that I could upload my rap mixtapes to? I ask reluctantly, as my music is terrible and I'd rather nobody ever listened to it, but I need to know, and I've read mixed things about the various mixtape sharing sites out there. .....There, I've asked. I know I'm going to regret it tomorrow when I come back here, but since my life is worthless and pointless anyway, I have nothing to lose.

Soundcloud should be easy enough, but I've never uploaded anything there.

Soundcloud should be easy enough, but I've never uploaded anything there. Well I've thought about Soundcloud in the past, but I'm not sure if I trust it or not. I was really looking for a site that allowed downloading of the mixtapes in full or part, as well as just being able to listen to them, like datpiff does it...but I'm not sure I trust datpiff either, as I've read negative things about it in regards to uploading stuff. So I don't know.

Go to Peddler's Mall and buy some blank cassettes or you're doing it wrong.

Many many artists use bandcamp and soundcloud.
I'm not sure what you don't trust about them.
It sounds more like you're just finding a reason NOT to put it out.

Out of curiosity, what don't you trust about these sites? I've used soundcloud before and I'm still alive.

Can someone explain what a rap mixtape is? I'm always confused by the term.

I used Bandcamp for my music and have had no issues whatsoever. It is incredibly flexible with rights, download limits, download settings, pricing, everything. Not sure why you wouldn't want to use it. Plus it has a clean interface.

I used soundclick back in the day for my instrumentals. It was a pretty good setup. I'm going to have to record/upload some new stuff soon though so this thread is helpful.
Just pick one of the sites and upload your stuff. No one is going to make fun of you for putting it out there or anything. Do it just for the experience. What good are ideas or art that aren't/isn't shared?

You want a deal? study these five chapters: Lesson 1: throw demos as hard as you can at signed rappers Lesson 2: face them and diss them. Don't give them a demo; kidnap them, and make them come to your basement and listen Lesson 3: get a job at a label, switch demos with Canibus and put yours on the owner's table Lesson 4: I know you've heard this before: "Hey let me get your number I'll call you tomorrow, for sure". Don't act like a fan, you wanna get signed? Get the whitest A&R you can find, pull him aside and rap as whack as you can Lesson 5: get a hook-up at Jive, dress up like I.C.P. and have them come see you perform live and that's the key
edit: and use bandcamp

Well it's true, so whatever. Many many artists use bandcamp and soundcloud. I'm not sure what you don't trust about them. It sounds more like you're just finding a reason NOT to put it out. The terms and conditions claim that you have to exclusively own everything you upload. Now apart from my really early terrible songs which use terrible beats I attempted to make myself, all the other songs use beats that I don't own. Now the majority of those beats are royalty free beats, but there are a few which aren't, which I've either gotten permission to use (but since YouTube changed it's messaging system, I've lost the messages I sent and received, so I've lost my proof), or in the case of a few songs they use commercial beats. Those aren't a huge deal as it's only a few songs, but still. And finally there are the songs which use beats that are labelled as free, but I've not asked permission or told the beatmakers that I've used them. With the royalty free beats I don't bother asking or anything, but these beats are ones from people who usually sell beats, but they were giving away some 'free use' beats at the time (a couple of years ago now). And on a final point, I could easily make a whole heap of excuses for not releasing them, yes. Out of curiosity, what don't you trust about these sites? I've used soundcloud before and I'm still alive. See above.

It's a pretty common practice on there.
