This is exactly whats great about wrestling and what wrestling fails to offer time and time again. Wrestling had everyone tricked that its real, once everyone found out it's not it lost steam. Then they started mixing real life backstage relationship drama with scripted stuff so you knew it was real cause it felt real but you didn't know how real is real but again you wanted to believe its all real cause it feels so good. Audience wants real or believable drama! No five star matches, no gimmicky stupid promos, no funny stuff, don't get me wrong these are all the elements that are needed to fulfil the show but the drivers seat takes the real world backstage heat or real world dangerous spots in the ring cause audience can understand consequences.

The fact Punk got away with a lot of his mic comments was hilarious to me. Nash, someone who came in on the story, had to result to smark bait comments in order to combat Punk. That's one reason why Punk's run from that point on was always a bit different to me. Anyone he went against on the mic had to tackle his comments differently than say John Cena because Punk always went overboard with the smark stuff.
Say you're a wrestler and you had a promo with Morrison a night before, ok good you do well, Bryan? Ok good you do well. Cena? You know what you gotta do.
Punk? Nah, he's got those insider terms and references. You have to be on your feet. Most of the time the wrestlers result to insider stuff as well.

It started off very cool but by the end Punk came across like the fat greasy bellend I tend to get stuck next to at live events who tells me who/who shouldn't be pushed and starts Benoit chants.

Punk winning at MitB is one of the highest highs I've experienced as a wrestling fan. They completely killed that within a couple months.
