I clicked on this thread expecting "the original plan" to be something completely ridiculous and out of touch, and I was not disappointed. The only surprise was that Vince vetoed it. When EVEN VINCE thinks you're stupid, you're stupid.

The clip talks about Triple H pedigreeing Punk "when he comes back". Does that refer to when Punk won at MITB and bolted with the WWE title? He was going to come back with the belt and not challenge the guy who became champion while he was gone? That makes no sense.
I mean, I could see the logic of a story where Triple H plays the part of honest broker to lure Punk (and the Championship) back and then attacking him once he returns, but Hunter would have to be the heel. They could then have done a Triple Threat match at Summer Slam with Punk facing both Cena and Triple H. That would have made a lot more sense then what we got.

I'll take punks words on the colt podcast over son reddit post. No thank you take your forks and pitchforks somewhere else Are you talking about how Punk said that the plan was for him to beat HHH? Because, if so, he was talking about their proposed Mania match for last year. Meltzer (and the Reddit post) was talking about the HHH/Punk feud in 2011.

Triple H is one of the most insecure performers I've ever seen.
You know, if he was a tad humble once he became a main eventer, he still would have carved out an impressive legacy. Instead his numbers are so inflated, it makes him look like a fraud more than anything else.
Even being the 6th most over guy during the entire Attitude Era for WWF is impressive. And no, you'll never be any higher than that, Hunter. No amount of whitewashing history is going to make you look any better.

That just reads so funny, because it sounds like the only thing that would happen at all to end the angle. Like, no mention of anyone beating Punk for the belt or anything... Just Triple H hitting his finisher just because.

Triple H is the guy who nicknamed himself the King of Kings, spent 5 million dollars and most of a year making himself look like he's on the same level as Brock Lesnar, and released a DVD of his career called, and I'm not joking, THY KINGDOM COME.
He may well have the best mind for pro-wrestling in the company, but he has a MASSIVE blind-spot when it comes to himself.

Punk losing to HHH and then apologizing to him the next night was pretty much the verbal equivalent of a Pedigree anyway.

Works for me either way. Didn't like Punk anyways.

I thought Option A for every Champion since 2003 was "Pedigreed by HHH" The difference here was HHH wasn't going to kick Punk in the stomach first. He was going to stare down CMP until he just bent over in supplication.

Heel Triple H going over hot faces is what's best for business you know, just ignore that long stretch in the early-mid 2000s where he did that and business tanked. Things like this are why I have no faith in Hunter being the saviour of the company, his ego and politics will always trump what is actually best for business. Yeah. People act like he's the savior of the business or something. Ten bucks says that once Vince kicks it, WWE becomes a full on egopolis to that legendary hero who singlehandedly ended the Monday Night Wars with his awesome badassness, the Game, The Cerebral Assasin, The Ultimate Asskicker, The King of KINGS, TRIPLE H!

HHH gets too much credit for NXT. It's a lot easier to book a show where you know your top guys are only going to be around for a short time. You can have a dominant monster win every match, lose on his way out the door, and not have that arc take a decade.

This would have been better than what actually happened. At least this way Triple H would have been forced to turn heel. Then we wouldn't have to sit through him feuding with Kevin Nash. And Punk could have come out in the end on top without him having to give Triple H a verbal fellatio for all the accusations he made against him.

I think Triple H is an awesome performer but he makes it really hard to be a fan sometimes. Some stuff he does is outright indefensible.
