I saw Rat Race as a kid and laughed myself hoarse. Saw it again a few years ago and...yeeeesh. I think I've just grown up.
A better example is Death Proof. I enjoyed it, and my memories of it were of the cool scenes it contains. Upon rewatching it yesterday with my brother, Christ... The action/death scenes are cool, the music is great, the performances are good, Kurt Russell is an awesome villain but there are so many, long, pointless dialogue scenes about nothing at all which QT probably thought were really clever and interesting but really, really weren't. So much natter about nothing for AGES.

and that's the thing about DEATH PROOF, it's better in it's shortened version in the whole grindhouse movie, whereas PLANET TERROR would be better even LONGER (not withstanding that 'scene deleted' scene! only seen DEATH PROOF once though, might be better second time around the years do take the shine off someone's humour, as we get older and crotchety!

I really regret my second viewing of Age of Ultron.
It was too easy to focus on the "shit" when I was no longer just in "original viewing awe" mode.

It seems that I have come to a realization about Home Alone 2, and that it really was not that good looking back. Now I LOVED that movie as a child, but having read some reviews, as well as watched some reviews online from the likes of OCPCommunitcations (Look him up; he is a good reviewer), it seems that the premise was just unnecessary. First of all, why would the McCallisters go to Miami to spend Christmas? Paris was one thing, as Peter and Frank's brother was over there, but Miami? It was obvious that the whole thing was just to have Kevin go to The Big Apple. Plus, all the stuff he got into was mainly his fault.
I could watch it and enjoy it okay around Christmas, but it is not as good as I remember it.

Even tho I've owned it since 2005, I haven't watched wedding crashers since 06, so I dont know if it holds up.

I always had a lot of affection for Little Giants growing up and a decade later I decided to choose it to write a paper about and then I just didn't enjoy that movie much at all on re-watch. I think if I watched it now I might still dig it though, just thinking about it makes me want to, lol.

Dude, where's my Car?
Really liked it first time I watched it.
Watched it a 2nd time and thought it was crap.
This wasn't long after either.

I recall liking Problem Child as a kid, but upon rewatch the actor playing the kid is just awful, and not even the charm of John Ritter or comedic talents of Michael Richards can save the film from feeling like a chore to sit through.

That part where Ritter apparently farts as he crawls into the tent was the only laugh I got out of it, and the way it's shown it's unclear if it's him or the wild bobaloo

Flubber. I remember thinking it was great as a kid, but I rewatched it last year and wow. It has not held up well to my childhood affections

I'm not a prequel hater, Episode 2 was decent and 3 was just as good as the original besides "Nooooooo" to me.
But every time I rewatch Episode 1 it seems worse and worse.
It makes me mad because I will want to have a Star Wars marathon sometimes, but then I hate Star Wars by the time the first one's over and rarely finish the series.

Every time I watch Superbad I hate it more. It was funny the first time but everyone just grates on me when ever I see it on tv and it isn't as funny I feel similar. I like watching people snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, as well as the other way around, but it started to feel like the main plot was more of a side quest.

I think I was so enamored with it because I anticipated it so much and it was my first IMAX movie, but hoo boy does "The Dark Knight Rises" not hold up over time. I think I allowed my excitement to cloud any flaws the movie may have had. But being able to watch it on a repeat viewing with a clear mind, you easily realize the gaping plot holes that are just littered all over the place.
Also, for what it's worth, a lot of responses in this thread have been "I liked this movie as a kid but it sucked when I watched it as an adult." It's because the movie was probably never all that good, we were just dumb kids who laughed when somebody farted or made a poop joke. I practically fell out of my chair in the theater watching "Austin Powers in Goldmember", but if I tried watching it now, I probably wouldn't crack a smile.

Mostly the ones I saw as a kid that just didn't hold up years later. Probably the Doctor Who and the Daleks movie with Peter Cushing. I watched that so many times when I was a youngen, but man is it bad.

Dodgeball. It was funny as all hell in a theater full of people that were out having a good time, not so much the second time around at home with a couple of friends.

On the theme of "I liked it as a kid," The Waterboy.
The cognitive dissonance is amazing; I have difficulty reconciling the fact that the adult I am now, and the 10-year-old boy who thought the Waterboy was the most hilarious thing on Earth, were and are the same person.

I think the movie is fine for what it is, right up until the final scene, which is one of the worst endings to a film I've ever seen. Smash Mouth was just the cherry on top of a shit sundae. Dark Knight Rises and Revenge of the Sith are both films I regret rewatching, as they were both deeply unsatisfying first time around and didn't improve on further viewings.
