Touche. Especially since, looking into it, it seems the game is just that classic Bethesda buggy as hell at launch game as usual. Oh well, at least I decided to wait on this game, so hopefully most of the bugs will be squashed by the time I get it. Yeah, it's being reported that it's buggy as hell... becuase Bethesda... Personally I think that really shouldn't be an acceptable reason.

To be fair, gaming media is making it a point to report on any AAA game with lots of bugs in them at launch, because it is becoming a rather recurring problem nowadays, or did we all forget the fun that was had at Assassin's Creed Unity's expense last year(for very good reasons). Point is, you release a big name game with lots of bugs in it these days, it will be reported on rather extensively.

If it was any other publisher they'd be called out on it, like Ubisoft or Warner Brothers after the Arkham Knight debacle (that is still happening) and not shrugged off.

Holy hell, the Xbox One has worse stuttering than the PS4 version. I just saw DigitalFoundary's comparison video between the two versions and the X1 version would drop to single digit fps every now and then, sometimes actually hitting 0 fps.

Well Bethesda actually addresses and fixes the issues in a timely manner, plus people put up with their buggy releases because their games are still damn good unlike many AAA developers that release buggy titles that feel like the developers weren't even trying to begin with. And when it comes to Arkham Knight, the game wasn't just buggy, it flat-out didn't work. Of course people are going to give them shit for it, and with good reason. With Bethesda, they might release buggy games, but people know that 1. they're at least playable and 2. they can be trusted to fix it quickly.

Did I say that people shouldn't be bitching about Arkham Knight? I called it an ongoing debacle. but read above dropping to single fps is not playable if it's for any extended period of time. and there have been reports of people getting stuck because elevators do not work at all... reloading to earlier doesn't fix it and the only work around was to restart and hope they work the second time. argue it's worth it if you want but the fact remains Bethesda get away with a lot more shit than other publishers do. and on your stance of it will get patched... undoubtedly. but if it's so prevalent why the hell wasn't it caught in Quality Assurance and patched before release?

Bethesda has it all figured out, because they just let their fans do all the heavy lifting.

I didn't say you claimed people shouldn't complain about Arkham Knight. My point was there is a difference between developers releasing an outright unfinished game at full price and failing to provide a product people have already paid for versus having to wait maybe an extra day while the kicks are getting worked out on a game that actually works. When Bethesda does something like that, it feels like a honest mistake and they quickly fix it, whereas with other developers like Ubisoft, it feels like they just don't give a f*** as long as they get people's money. Just look at the number of games they made that require to be online despite their servers not working properly. And then they try to make you pay extra for "DLC" that's really just regular features they removed so they make more money for less work. I imagine the reason they didn't patch it before release is that they have such tight deadlines that they just want to make sure the core mechanics work on launch day and only get to bug fixing afterwards. And don't get me wrong, I agree it's kind of bullshit and I'd rather have them just push the release back a bit and have it work right away instead of doing this. But again, with Bethesda, it's just a minor inconvenience that's quickly solved and forgotten just as quickly. With other developers, the bugs are a constant annoyance that's here to stay among already mediocre games. As far as I'm aware, the bugs in Assasin's Creed Unity are still present (and even if they're not, they took their sweet time fixing it). The PC port of Arkham Knight had to be freaking pulled from stores for months, the kind of stuff normally reserved for the laziest of shovelware companies, just so they could do their basic job and finish the freaking game so it wouldn't crash every 30 seconds. With Fallout 4, people might have to wait an extra day. I don't think it's really comparable. So in short, yes, it's a f*** up, but when Bethesda f***s up, it's a temporary minor inconvenience. When other developers f*** up, they leave you with a half-finished game and expect you to give them a bonus for the privilege. So of course people aren't going to complain as much about Bethesda. EDIT: With that said, IF the FPS drop is indeed a common problem and not just an isolated incident, I have to admit that is genuinely shameful to not have at least fixed that earlier.

Just got my copy of the Pip Boy edition at Game. My first midnight launch for a game, funnily enough. Got a Vault Boy mask, some poker chips and playing cards (New Vegas remnants) and a Bobblehead with it.
The Pip Boy itself is an awesome bit of kit, and the design and instructions have so many funny little in-jokes. Bloody hard to get the phone to sit right in it, though. The foam sleeve things are a bit too stiff to fit around my phone and in the device at the same time easily.

Hey guys, only two more years till we release Fallout 4...anyone wanna tackle the exact same problems that every single Bethesda release has? Anyone? No?

Glitches are pretty much the sole reason I'm glad I'm not getting this until Christmas.
Oh, and I was reading a list of the names Wadsworth will recognise, some interesting choices, including "Katniss Everdeen", "Max Rockatansky" and "Boobies"
I will say though, I was happy to find my name's on there!

Yes and no about Bethesda fixing their bugs. Their games are extremely buggy even after patching is complete, but they have people like the USKP dev team picking up the slack on PC, and they know where their bread is buttered. Now that mods are going to be supported on the next-gen consoles, Unofficial patches are going to be essential on every platform. Gamers know it, Bethesda knows it, but it's not a big deal because Bethesda has close ties to its modding community and offers a good tools and support for mod authors. That's where Bethesda really stands out as a developer. They make mistakes and don't always fix them, but they acknowledge their flaws and invite people with the time and dedication to make the games even better. Skyrim's an awesome game. With mods? My favorite game I've ever played. I can make similar claims about Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3. I hope the same rings true for Fallout 4. I expect bugs aplenty, but I also expect that when sufficient resources exist to correct the bugs, the game is going to be nothing short of stellar.

The bugs don't worry me too much. I got Skyrim on the first day of release and kept reading about bugs online and really, the only ones I encountered was one bug where the game crashed if I entered a building with some type of armour equipped and a temporary companion who just wouldn't f*** off and kept giving my position away (granted, THAT was an annoying one).

It seems like they removed showing how much something weighs as well as how much it's worth, unless that's something that suddenly shows up later. Also, they removed showing you how irradiated a water source is, unless, again, it's something that suddenly shows up later.

I'm not mad about AAA games having game breaking glitches when they come out. I'm mad that it's becoming the industry standard. Turning from "Oh the game has bugs that need to be fixed" to "Oh we can fix that in the next patch". A Bethesda being a glitch messed is no shocker. Honestly it's why I think Fallout 3 is kind of overrated. I still love the game, but it's not the flawless game people clam it to be.
From what I've seen with Fallout 4, the customization stuff looks really cool and I think the graphics look pretty good (when it runs smoothly). It's nice to see a game like this not be puke gray everywhere. It's amazing what a little color will do.
