I really have zero interest in seeing a young Han Solo recast when we already saw a young Han Solo thirty years ago.

If it's just for a cameo, I am honestly not really all that concerned. I have a lot of good faith after seeing this one, so even if it was just a "well that was weird" moment or something, I don't really mind, if they feel they need it.

The only real problem I'd have with it is the fact that Han would look like Harrison Ford circa 1977 at the time the movie takes place in. But at the same time they want to make a Han Solo... er... solo Movie so that's always going to be weird.

I look at Han being recast this way: For the most part, the new Star Trek movies cast did well with the characters that were seen as iconic, so why not with Han?
Also, Ewan as Obi-Wan, despite your opinions on the prequels, played that role well. Granted we never saw young Obi-Wan in the original trilogy, but still.

Yeah, don't mistake me, I have no qualms with there being a new Han Solo for any side movies/TV shows/whatever they want to do.
I DO have a qualm with if they try to shoehorn him in to a movie like Rogue One, which ostensibly has nothing to do with Han based on what we've heard about its plot. That just smacks of trying too hard to do the "connected universe" thing and is really pointless pandering.

Funny thought though with the new Han Solo...
When the new main trilogy is over, and if they decide to make a new Lego Star Wars game tying all 9 main movies, and maybe some of the sub movies (like Rogue One, the Han Solo one...maybe the Clone Wars movie just to get Asohka in for her fans) will they use the Lego Han they used in previous Lego Star Wars games, or make a new one up for the new actor Han?

They'd probably use the same one they've been using since it'll still look like Han.

It bothers me that Han is being recast for a young Han. The difference between this is the Obi-Wan situation is that we didn't already see a younger Obi-Wan in the original trilogy, just in the prequels. If we didn't already have a younger Han in the original trilogy maybe it wouldn't bother me so much. But at the same time, it's not like characters don't get recast all the time, sometimes in the same universe. Whether it be the different actors playing Batman, Superman, Spider-man, Rachel Dawes in the Dark Knight trilogy, even James Bond, for that matter. But despite all that, this still irks me.

Younger Han in the OT was aged between late-30s and 40, so I'd have no objection to the Han movie being set in his early-to-mid '20s. Doesn't make the shoehorning into Rogue One any less awkward though, I admit.

The only way I'll be happy with the shoehorning into Rogue One is, as mentioned, if it's pretty much stylistically exactly the same as Wolverine in X-Men First Class.
Still a little miffed that Rogue One apparently has absolutely nothing to do with Rogue Squadron, plot-wise or otherwise. They better have a good justification for the name.

What is Zac Effron not available? Honestly, I would seriously consider Zac Efron for a brief Han cameo. I like Teller more than most, but Efron has the natural levity required to pull the Solo character off. Pratt's too old for what they're apparently considering.

They'll probably be 3 different Hans: OT, TFA, and young Han. They have multiple variations of a lot of characters in those games.

I'm not enthusiastic about the spin-offs. Yes, they'll make shitloads of money, but creatively I think it will dilute the franchise. Too much. Too often.
Also, some characters are better the less you know about them.

I thought this had a chance to catch Avatar, but it may not even catch Titanic at this point. Where are they gonna make up the $350+ million?

Marvel's Star Wars: Poe Dameron will begin publishing in April. This series will chronicole Poe and BB-8's adventures in the new galaxy leading up to the events of The Force Awakens. It'll show us more of those two as well as the rest of the other X-Wing pilots in The Resistance. Marvel says we will see more of the galaxy as we now know it and get a better idea of where everything stands and what the catalysts were for this new conflict through his eyes.
