Legit potential spoiler: {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler} According to PWInsider, Maria was telling people at last night's ROH show that she and Mike Bennett are starting with TNA in January. Taven's contract runs through March or April and he seemed to suffer a serious knee injury at the PPV so he will not be joining them, at least not immediately. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}Why the hell would you jump onto a sinking ship?! I will not feel sorry for them when they continuously get told "Your checks are coming"

Bennett, if you're letting your wife decide how your career goes and she is preventing you from going to somewhere that you've been wanting to go for years because of how she acts, you may need to rethink your decision in marrying her.

Meh, not everything has to be career oriented. I mean if he loves her and is willing to take a hit on his career to make things work better between them then good for him. Wait a second? That means going to TNA rather than WWE? Yeah, time for divorce court!

Yeah but at the same time it has been Bennet's dream to go to the wwe since he was a child, hell he pretty much was trained as a wwe star. I really don't get why they're leaving ROH, that got them bookings in New Japan to go to a sinking ship that a lot of times don't pay their talents on time or fail to pay them at all. I hope that Maria is not dictating his career or that she's not preventing him from going to the wwe. This reminds me of a story where the wwe offered Bull Pain a deal, but his girlfriend picked up the phone and rejected his deal because she didn't got a deal to be his manager. Bull wanted to kill her.

All it tells me is that way too many wrestlers are in relationships with other wrestlers.

When people say "oh they're headed to WWE" it might be NXT right?Let's be real, unless you're a top tier Indy talent who doesn't need NXT, most of them are going to go through the developmental system first. Look at Finn Balor, he's 34 years old. Unless he's getting paid good money, the time for him to earn big time money is shortening every year he's in developmental. So in the case for Bennett, at 30 years old, why sign with WWE/NXT, and waste away 2-3 years of prime earning money? If TNA has relaxed their rules on talent not showing up at other Indy feds, I see no reason why he couldn't do TNA and still do PWG or whatever pops up.
I think people have to get out of this mindset that WWE is the end all be all. To a certain point, it is, it's the biggest wrestling company in the world. But they have their own laundry list of issues as it is, and from what I've read in the past, the NXT guys don't get paid much to begin with. Why do it?

But on the other side of that story- sports entertainment is different from pro wrestling. Unlike in "real sports", where someone in their mid-30s is on the decline of their career, traditionally people in their mid-30s are just entering their peak years in the sport and, barring retirement/dying young, you can be at the top well into your forties, or even past 50 if you take good enough care of yourself or are a big enough star.

In all honesty what person in their right mind would drop everything to work for TNA? "Hello?" "Hi, sug. This is Dixie Carter." "Oh, hi, Dixie" "Sug, are you busy?" "I'm standing in line at Target. I'm buying some sponges" "Sug, I want to offer you a chance to join TNA, but you have to drop everything and come to one of our tapings"
~long pause~
"But Dixie, these sponges are on sale for today only, so..."

The money on the main roster isn't that great either (especially when you take in to account the costs of living on the road) unless your a top guy, most the money is in royalties, Finn Balor sells a shit ton of merch so is probably making a decent amount from that and I think I read that when NXT tour travel, hotel and expenses are paid by the company.

Bennett, if you're letting your wife decide how your career goes and she is preventing you from going to somewhere that you've been wanting to go for years because of how she acts, you may need to rethink your decision in marrying her. I don't think it is that. Both want to be in WWE and she and the Bellas have squashed their beef with her taking all the heat, I think it is simply they want to be a package deal, not separated. In WWE they would be split with him in NXT and her on the main roster which they don't seem to want. As for why not ROH, they wanted more money but after the Bucks signed it isn't there and some bad blood developed after ROH used her on a poster for a show that was after their deals were up which she didn't like.

And beyond all that guys, it's really poor form to try and judge people's personal/business lives. If you're not in the industry and don't know these folks personally, lay off on stuff like that, please.

It'll be pretty hilarious if they blow all their money on the first episode, and it's revealed that their surprise names include Crimson, Matt Morgan, Hernandez (yes, yet again), Homicide, and Bill DeMott. Hilarious? I think you mean it would be... Humorous.

Bennett and Maria are a decent midcard act but TNA needs more main eventers.
