Wish they could re-release this for the current consoles (if they have no plans for a sequel). This game was so much fun and I would love to play through it again.

It's amazing how relaxing and soothing it is to just take a horse and ride across the landscape. Though I must confess, I am also one of the most prolific serial killers in the history of Mexico. Isn't it just? Get on your horse, travel from town to town and take in the sights. Of course, the game may throw random violence at you, but a gamer's gotta do what a gamer's gotta do. I have the same experience with the GTA games; sometimes it's good just to cruise around town, hanging out with friends and taking in what San Andreas/Liberty City has to offer. On GTA I like to take my boat out. Sail around. Enjoy the sunsets. Just relax and savour the tranquility of the coast. Then I go back to shore, find a strategic location I can defend, carry out a rampage and wipe out wave after wave of cops in a siege that lasts long as I can hold out before they gun me down.

I don't do rampages very often in either game, but in RDR, I like to do it after I've just lost a bunch of money on hold 'em, then I reload. In GTA I typically do it after somebody hits me in their car or something then yells at me over it.

This is a great game to play while listening to Bon Jovi.
"I'm a cowboy....on an....uh....actual horse I ride.....and I'm wanted.....yeahhhhhh....dead or alive!!!"

I had hours of fun with the lasso. So many options.

How random to find this thread. I too recently picked this out of my library for a replay.
I can't say more than what has been said. Amazing game, in my top 5 all time and easily the greatest implementation of a soundtrack ever. The way the volume and pace ebb and flow based on your gameplay is something truly special.

I too loved RDR. But speaking of transcending moments in Rockstar Games, I vividly remember a long time girlfriend breaking up with me right when I got Vice City. When the breakup finally hit me, I specifically remember driving to the beach and watching the sun set while listening to the 80s soft hits station.

I had hours of fun with the lasso. So many options. Nice. Love hearing that. As did I. I did none of the Blue Dot Encounters without lassoing and hogtying. Never a kill shot. Well, except stagecoach robbers. I'd mow them down. Same with duel challenges. And guess what, when I got to... {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}..mow down the man who'd killed my father, it was so so so so gratifying and the six headshots were graphic as all get-out. Seems I'd been missing out with all of the disarms. Material flew everywhere and he was beyond recognizable before he hits the ground. (My other necessary kill duels were not headshots.) I too loved RDR. But speaking of transcending moments in Rockstar Games, I vividly remember a long time girlfriend breaking up with me right when I got Vice City. When the breakup finally hit me, I specifically remember driving to the beach and watching the sun set while listening to the 80s soft hits station. That's ... awesome.

One of those near-perfect moments in gaming.
EDIT: And just from that one video makes me miss playing this so much. A sequel cannot come fast enough.

I literally just hit that point in the game a mere 4 days ago. I have no recollection of the song playing. Maybe me stopping to shoot deer and coyotes prevented it, f*** if I know.

I like the song that plays when you go home to your family.

On a side note...
Take Javier alive Williamson gets killed by Reyes Dutch commits suicide
John Marston may have blood on his hands...but none of it belongs to his friends.
EDIT: The Mexico song is easy to miss. I think it was my 3rd or 4th playthrough before I stayed on the horse long enough to hear it.

If you got off the horse it would've stopped playing. Which I learned due to getting off my horse when Compass started to grab a plant nearby. Fortunately my computer's right next to my TV, so Youtubed the song for the same effect/

Wish they could re-release this for the current consoles (if they have no plans for a sequel). This game was so much fun and I would love to play through it again. Apparently the big issue stopping them from porting it is that the code is a goddamn mess or at least that was the excuse given regarding a PC port.

I like the song that plays when you go home to your family. Is that the 'only compass that I neeeeeeeddd.....is the oooonnneeee....that leads back to YOU' song? Damn that is an incredible gaming moment for me. After all the shit with outlaws and the government and every twist and turn in between, to be told you can finally see your family, racing back as fast as your poor horse can take you, with that song playing....
