2 notes about Rebirth sales.... - BATGIRL & THE BIRDS OF PREY: Rebirth sold 109k copies. No BoP copy, in the last 15 years or possibly ever (the introductory one-shots that led to the series started in 1996), has ever sold that much. - HELLBLAZER: Rebirth sold 85k. The same applies. In fact, since this book started in 1988, there's a possible chance (sales data back then was collected differently, I believe, so it'd might be tough to find actual numbers) it's NEVER sold that amount in 28 years. www.comicsbeat.com/dc-comics-month-to-month-sales-july-2016-rebirth-2-electric-boogaloo/

It's well known that the first few issues, as well as any rare or special covers featuring certain characters will always see a sales bump, but the Rebirth sales bumps have been very high. Whether that is because people saw how New 52 run numbers ones went for silly money for some stuff really quickly (for modern comics), or because it really is appealing to readers - THAT will be the question. Imma guess it'll be somewhere in between. Some series' will do well and stay doing well, but a good few will crash and burn in 6 odd months. Basically the same as normal.

Getting really nervous for Tim Drake. I dont think they'll kill him, I think he is going to get paralysed and become the new Oracle, just to continue winding up the fans that aren't from the 70s

Imma guess it'll be somewhere in between. Some series' will do well and stay doing well, but a good few will crash and burn in 6 odd months. Basically the same as normal. I think some of the second-and-beyond wave Rebirth issues coming out (Cyborg, for example) may suffer or at least not sell as much as the earlier waves. OTOH I think releasing it all at once (like they did with New 52's giant launch) would've burned readers out a LOT quicker, especially with those secondary books (several of the lower tier New 52 books ended with their 8th issues). But the drops for some of the early Rebirth titles don't seem that bad. Case in point: Wonder Woman #1 and 2 were still over the 100k mark. 6 months out it should be interesting to see..... Another note: apparently 2nd printing sales added quite a bit to certain books. Heck, DC Rebirth #1's 2nd printing sold 42k alone - and it had a $8 price tag (vs. the 1st's $3) - and there are at least 2 more printings beyond that (3rd already hit, and I think a 4th on the way)

It'll be collectors and speculators buying those though. The same people would buy a raft of Marvel number 1s too, if Marvel would stop relaunching their titles every second month...
DC have been behind for a long time, it'll be good to see if they can sustain first place for a while - might give Marvel a kick in the balls and have them stop trying to appeal to everyone and yet seemingly making no one happy

That's as bad as DKRIII and Secret Wars last year.
Marvel need to start fining artists/writers who cant keep to schedule on these event books - or just stop doing them every year and spend some time building and giving artists a bit more lead time.....

I agree...but then have Marvel had a cutthroat period besides the Shooter era?
From everything I hear, Jim pissed everyone off back then but he got results.

Marvel need to start fining artists/writers who cant keep to schedule on these event books - or just stop doing them every year and spend some time building and giving artists a bit more lead time..... They need to start utilizing multiple artists on these books. They have enough artists who can work similar styles, I would think it could be done. But they're playing the "artistic consistency" card and thus wearing fans down with long delays that will, inevitably if not already, affect other titles dealing with CW2's fallout. I mean, Sara Pichelli (who also worked with Bendis on Ultimate Spidey, as Marquez did) couldn't pinch hit on CIVIL WAR II? While their styles aren't identical, I would think just the USM connection would satisfy readers in the know...

There's already a new Oracle though. Easy enough to set one story before another and just not reveal it until later. New Oracle is profiteering on criminal activity, running a criminal organization.

It's incredibly rare for me to drop an event/mini-series once I've started it, but between the epic delays and the fact that it's dull as dishwater, Civil War II might just be heading towards "just read the Wikipedia summary" territory.

From everything I hear, Jim pissed everyone off back then but he got results. honestly, as much of a rep as the guy had for being a tyrant, I wish more EICs were like Jim Shooter. dude understood consistency across the whole line was important way more than anyone before or since. I bet a guy like him wouldn't have come up with what that fat load did to Spider-man, either.

Dude's wife recently gave birth and then apparently broke her leg. Replacing him would be reasonable, but fining him that situation?
