I just wanna say Japan beating South Africa at the Rugby World Cup is one of my favourite sporting moments ever. I nearly didn't watch the game 'cos I thought it would be a whitewash but eventually decided to just have it on in the background while I did other things. Needless to say, not many of those other tasks were completed. Amazing story.
Also, if/when this countdown is done for 2016 you may as well just reserve spots 10 through 1 for Leicester City.

Pretty decent list, I fully agree with the top spot. That moment would be number 1 in most years.

Prepared a YouTube version of the video for everyone just in case: Im looking to turn this into a YouTube series counting down the biggest upset of each year, but I have to admit I'm struggling with thinking of suggestions for 2014. have a couple in mind so far {Spoiler} Germany destroying Brazil in the World Cup Maran Cilic beats Roger Federer in the US open semi final Kei Nishikori beats Novak Djokovic in the US open semi final Nick Kyrios beats Rafa Nadal at Wimbledon Costa Rica beat Italy in the World Cup Oliver Wilson wins the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship
Anything else would be a great help

Anything else would be a great help I wouldn't include Cilic in there. Yes, he was the underdog in that match but he was seeded pretty high for that tournament and was having a decent 2014 (I think he made the quarter finals at Wimbledon too). Federer may be the greatest player ever and still one of the best players right now but 2014 Federer wasn't the force he was in previous tournaments and so him losing to a player only ten spots or so below him in the rankings isn't really that big an upset IMO.

I know someone people don't consider it a sport as such but Phil Taylor getting knocked out in the second round of the 2014 World Darts Championship was a pretty big surprise. Although as the tournament starts in December and ends in January, his exit from the tournament would have been in 2013, even though it was the 2014 championship, so it probably couldn't count.

As a big fan of Nadal, it's no surprise to see him ousted early on in grass or hard court majors. He's painfully average outside of the clay anymore. He's had a great run, though. It's still a bit of an upset, but nowhere near one of the best.

It's still a bit of an upset, but nowhere near one of the best. Yeah. Nadal seems to have reached that post 2000 Sampras stage where even though he isn't the player that he was he still carries an aura that makes beating him a big deal, especially the case with the Dustin Brown win. That being said though I still feel Kyrgios' win has a lot of gravitas to it, Nadal had won the French open two weeks before and I believe was the world number one going into Wimbledon, yet lost to a 19 year old wildcard who has become more noted for his off-court behaviour rather his success on it. If I had to rank the big Nadal upsets it would probably be: 1) Rosol in 2011 2) Soderling in 2009 3) Darcis in 2013 (simply because Darcis was so lowly ranked) 4) Kyrgios in 2014 5) Brown in 2015

2014 is up:
I have to admit 2014 was a difficult one when it came to upsets, so some of these are a stretch and not universally agreed, but if it gets people talking about the subject it will be worthwhile. It does however allow me to focus on 2013 which is a lot more upset heavy.

Although I still think he wasn't 100% given that he can beat an almost inhuman Djokovic on clay, and I just don't think Soderling on his best day with the ol' Brock add age of having "a golden horseshoe up his ass" could beat a healthy Rafa on clay.

As a man who plays darts in league, I can say it's much more of a sport than World Series of Poker is.

If Cameroon beating the world cup holders Argentina in the 1990 World Cup isn't the biggest upset of that year, i'll eat my keyboard.

Middle Tennessee going wire-to-wire against MSU has to be a contender for the biggest upset this year, right?

I know both teams were pretty much neck and neck beforehand, but Liverpool coming back from 0-2 and 1-3 down respectively to win 4-3 in the quarter-finals of the Europa League last night has to be up there.
