Anybody could tell he was done the moment the severity of his injury was announced. That's the kind of injury that retires people in their primes, and he's genuinely fortunate to still have the use of his limbs.
If only he'd not gotten cold feet on joining after WCW folded.

A large part of me hoped he would have pulled a Johnny Rotten on the Hall of Fame thing. It needs someone consciously to say, "f*** you all - I decline," especially from someone as big as Sting, to perhaps force WWE to start looking at itself a little more and see why someone might do that.

I can actually understand where he was coming from, at that time. WWE pretty quickly started dumping all over WCW's legacy, and seeing how poorly they booked some of the most prominent names at the time of WCW's collapse would certainly have given me doubts.

This was expected. Like Edge and Daniel Bryan, I am glad I got to seem him wrestle live before he retired. Just a shame it was in TNA! Got the Network? Watch: -Sting vs. Vader, Great American Bash '92, Starrcade '92, Superbrawl III and Slamboree '94 -Sting vs. Rick Rude -Sting & Luger vs. The Steiner Brothers, Superbrawl I -Sting vs. Cactus Jack, Beach Blast '92 -Sting's Squadron vs. The Dangerous Alliance, WrestleWar '92 -Sting vs. Great Muta, Great American Bash '89 Yes! People seem to remember Sting for his crow gimmick now, but he was GREAT before that.

I don't know about anyone else, but I've considered him retired for years. As far as the majority of wrestling fans were concerned he has been since 2001. But joining WWE was always pretty much just going to be the cap to his career.

I would've been annoyed and anxious about it if he did come back. Stenosis is narrowing of the spinal canal, putting pressure on all those nerves. He'd have to have surgery to actually fix the problem, and he sure wouldn't wrestle after having surgery, so he'd just do physical therapy and to try and manage symptoms, which doesn't matter when you get in a wrestling ring and get tossed around.

Goddamn it, his WWE run was such a waste. Could've had him vs. Taker but noooo, we had to get the masturbatory HHH Mania match and the career-ending Hijo Del Helmsley Night of Champions match.

- The last 5 minutes of Uncensored 1997 This is the last time I remember just completely abandoning logic and marking out like a mofo. It was even on scramblevision. I just got finished listening to the show, was about to turn it off when I heard something about Sting. Then I just sat there, marking out, hoping that what I was hearing was true and Sting was destroying the entire NWO including giving Hogan the Scorpion Death Drop. I immediately went to my computer and made a very sad photoshop of Sting standing between a broken NWO logo with the words "The N.W.O is finished, starting N.O.W." About a week later I went back to being cynical smark and thinking I could do EVERYTHING SO MUCH BETTER... but that night, that night was special.

He shouldn't have stayed with that f**k up of a company for as long as he did. If only he came to WWE sooner.

Sad because I was big Sting fan as a kid but glad he did made it to WWE before he retired. Sting is the ultimate company man. He stuck with WCW through thick and thin. Even with WWF offering him big money to jump ship. He stayed with TNA way longer than he should because of said loyalty. Sting probably still be there if they did not run out of money to keep him around. But he finally took the leap sadly around the time Warrior was about to leave this mortal coil. He did not get the Undertaker match like him and other dreamed but he did get a Wrestlemania match to check off his bucket list. Hope it's not the last time he makes a WWE appearance.

In the end, it was Sting's own neck that turned on him.

It really sucks he never got a victory in WWE. I know wins and losses don't count and all, but come on. Was it really worth ruining Sting's moment just to show that WWF was always always always and forever better than WCW? He won twice. once by DQ which led directly into him and Cena beating Rollins and Show by Submission. Sting made Rollins tap out, right?

Hopefully, Rollins scraps that buckle bomb. How can that be done safely?

The fact that this WWE run of his has been terrible makes this even more sad. I blame both Triple H and Vince. Vince for his incompetence, and Triple H for his ego. You could actually put Vince for his ego as well. I mean, WCW's been dead for 14 years and they're still harboring a grudge.

The saddest part is Sting said in interviews that WWE would undermine his character and his legacy would be bogged down by the booking of the company
While I don't think his Legacy will ever take a hit, Booking really did bog down the time they had with him, they really don't understand when they have sure fire things, Daniel Bryan with the world title was mismanaged to Kane until he got hurt, and should have never been stuck with Kane, and then Sting.
They'd rather pump their energy into lost causes like Roman than actually care about the people the Fans care about and what the fans want to see, for ego driven useless politicking, and it's sad to see Sting go out like he did. But at least he gets a Hall of Fame Speech to close it out, which he more than earned.
